Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is currently seeking an Electrical Design Engineering Manager 2 to support Hardware design within the Advanced Weapons Business Unit.
This position is required to be full-time, on-site in the Northridge, CA location. No remote/telework arrangement is available for this position.
The Electrical Design Engineering Manager 2 leads a multidisciplinary team responsible for the design, development, verification, and integration of complex electrical subsystems in missile systems. This role ensures that all electrical hardware, wiring, power distribution, and signal‑processing elements meet rigorous performance, reliability, and security standards while adhering to program schedules and budgets.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Direct, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team of up to 15 electrical engineers.
- Set performance objectives, conduct regular reviews, and create career‑development plans.
- Allocate resources, prioritize work, and manage schedules and budgets for both digital‑integration and electrical‑engineering programs.
- Collaborate with engineering leadership, peer managers, and program managers to ensure appropriate staffing levels across all projects.
- Define and implement a roadmap that aligns with missile‑program milestones.
- Develop and manage department budgets, performance standards, and resource forecasts.
- Communicate technical status, risks, and mitigation plans to senior leadership and program managers.
- Participate in major design reviews and peer‑review panels to validate compliance and technical integrity.
- Provide direct technical contributions to active programs and act as a subject‑matter resource for the department.
- Support proposal development, cost estimating, and substantiation of related contract activities.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or an equivalent field of study with 8+ years of electrical engineering experience in defense or aerospace; or a master’s degree with 6 years of the same type of experience
- 3+ years of experience as a Technical Leader, managing teams of 10 or more multi-disciplined engineering personnel
- Experience with engineering development and transition-to-production
- Experience with PWB (Printed Wiring Board) design rules and techniques for CCA’s with 20 layers count from initial prototype to production.
- Ability to obtain a US Government Secret security clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- MS Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience in Missile Development and/or Airborne Systems.
- Familiarity with Digital Systems or Power Systems.
- Experience in transition from Technology Development to EMD, EMD to Limited Rate Production and product life-cycle engineering.
- Experience in leadership of technical teams to include in-house development and subcontractor activities.
- Experience estimating tasking as well as authoring and approving Basis of Estimates (BOEs) for Proposals
- Demonstrated history of technical progression leading to engineering leadership position.
- Knowledge of EDA tools package such as Mentor Graphics or equivalent.
- Active US Government Secret security clearance

Primary Level Salary Range: $161,100.00 - $241,700.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
