Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Design Engineer to join our MEP / Building Services Engineering team in Buffalo. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems for new and existing building projects. This role involves close collaboration with architects, mechanical engineers, and project managers to deliver safe, reliable, and energy-efficient electrical designs that comply with applicable codes and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrical systems for building projects, including power distribution, small power, lighting, and earthing & grounding systems
- Prepare electrical schematics, diagrams, and construction drawings using industry-standard tools
- Create and review technical drawings, specifications, and calculations using AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical design software
- Perform load calculations, circuiting, panel schedules, cable sizing, voltage drop analysis, equipment sizing, and single-line diagrams
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure design integration and resolve technical issues
- Ensure designs comply with NEC, IEC, local codes, LEED requirements, and other applicable standards
- Participate in client meetings and clearly communicate design intent and progress
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal design standards and processes
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- 1 - 2 years' of experience in building electrical systems design (commercial, institutional, or industrial projects preferred)
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical calculation tools (e.g., DIALux, ETAP, EPLAN, or similar)
- Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and other relevant electrical standards
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Compensation & Benefits
The expected base salary range for this role is $62,400 – $72,500 USD per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on skills, experience, qualifications, and location.
