We are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer I to support the development and enhancement of electrical power distribution equipment. This role will contribute to product design, engineering documentation, testing, and technical support while working with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable and compliant electrical solutions.
This opportunity is ideal for an engineer with a strong electrical engineering foundation who enjoys hands-on problem solving, product development, and power systems design.
Responsibilities
- Design electrical systems and components for power distribution equipment.
- Select electrical components and assist with thermal design, mechanical packaging concepts, and interconnection hardware.
- Design switchboard power and control circuits.
- Apply knowledge of analog and digital circuit design, magnetics, and thermal management.
- Develop engineering specifications for power protection products. Documentation & Product Development
- Create and maintain engineering documentation, including schematics and bills of materials (BOMs).
- Prepare technical reports, manufacturing documentation, and test procedures.
- Support the integration and qualification of third-party devices within power distribution systems.
- Participate in hardware design reviews to verify product performance and reliability. Testing & Engineering Support
- Provide engineering support for new and existing power protection products.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems, assemblies, and subsystems.
- Assist with product safety certifications and compliance activities, including UL, CSA, and IEC standards.
- Work with engineering and manufacturing teams to resolve technical issues throughout the product lifecycle.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE).
- Experience using AutoCAD or similar CAD drafting software.
- Experience designing power distribution equipment, including:
- Power Distribution Units (PDUs)
- Static Transfer Switches (STS)
- Remote Power Panels (RPPs)
- Switchboards
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using electrical engineering test equipment, including:
- Oscilloscopes
- Network analyzers
- Signal generators
- Knowledge of three-phase electrical systems and power distribution.
- Strong troubleshooting and laboratory skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and technical documentation abilities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
