Job Summary:
Salas O’Brien is seeking an Electrical Engineer who will be responsible for the design of various electrical systems, including but not limited to PLC control systems, SCADA/HMI solutions, low-voltage power distribution, networking and communications design, and process controls design within industrial and utility infrastructure spaces.
Job duties include:
- Execute projects with involvement from conceptual design through completion, working with other engineers and design team members.
- Leverage knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), power distribution, network architecture design, and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.
- Perform calculations integral to the electrical systems design.
- Design systems in accordance with the National Electric Code (NEC – NFPA70)
- Prepare instrumentation datasheets and maintain an up-to-date instrument list.
- Participate in and support design and/or coordination reviews with clients and other project team members.
- Collaborate with and support engineers and project managers across various projects.
- Work closely with vendors to support vendor-submitted data for technical reviews and production.
- Oversee assigned project efforts to ensure adherence to budget and schedule.
- Capable of increasing technical competency with experience and work ethic.
- The position requires travel up to 20% of the time to various unanticipated client locations throughout the United States
Minimum Qualifications:
- U.S. Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field, or the foreign degree equivalent
- 2+ years of experience in the design of electrical systems for various types of industrial manufacturing facilities and utility infrastructure spaces
- Experience with industrial instrumentation and controls
- Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) is preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and REVIT is preferred, but not required
