Essential Functions Statement(s)
- Work cohesively with other members of the EHS team and Management towards fulfilling tasks and project goals. Maintain the SDS library by adding new chemicals as they are received or replacing outdated sheets with the most current revisions.
- Complete walk-through audits to constantly identify hazards and work with needed resources to correct.
- Train employees on EHS programs in new hire orientation and regularly as required. Maintain EHS training records.
- Investigate indoor/outdoor air quality complaints to determine health effects.
- Schedule appointments and intervals for chromium and respiratory physicals.
- Label and sign appropriate hazards and chemical reactants.
- Perform fit-testing for respiratory protection program.
- Perform routine inspections for emergency lighting, fire extinguishers, hoists, and eyewash stations.
- Audit internal programs to determine the effectiveness to comply with industry standards.
- Perform air monitoring for Hexavalent chromium exposure.
- Enforce local and state regulations. Assist in record keeping and scheduling for various Clean Air Act, RCRA, and DOT annual and biannual reports.
- Assist in scheduling and manifesting hazardous waste shipments. Train and direct employees to adequately comply with RCRA/hazardous waste management regulations in day-to-day operations.
- Maintain the record keeping database to ensure thorough organization and accessibility of compliance documents.
- Perform compliance audits on the shop floor to evaluate and define weaknesses in regulatory compliance.
- Handle hazardous waste/materials as needed.
- Assist in compliance audits with state and federal officials.
Position Qualifications
- High School diploma required. Bachelor's Degree (four year college or technical school) Preferred with major in environmental or safety sciences.
- 2 plus years of experience in EH&S
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
