EHS Specialist
Role Overview:
We are looking for an experienced and motivated EHS Specialist to join our team in Petfurdo (Hungary) and support the development of a strong safety culture aligned with our “Zero Harm” program. This is a full-time, on-site position from Monday to Friday, reporting directly to the EHS Manager. The role requires daily presence on-site, close collaboration with production teams, contractors, and leadership, and active involvement in inspections, audits, and incident investigations.

Role Responsibilities:
As an EHS Specialist, you will be responsible for:
Developing risk reduction initiatives and supporting employees and leadership in identifying and implementing safety improvements.
Organizing and coordinating EHS development programs, monitoring progress, and ensuring safe operations in compliance with Huntsman standards and local regulations.
Overseeing safety-conscious operations in occupational safety, fire protection, and disaster management.
Maintaining communication with relevant authorities and collaborating with internal departments on EHS and industrial safety matters.
Participating in incident investigations, ensuring proper handling according to standards and regulations, and following up on corrective actions.
Taking part in internal and external audits and official inspections.
Ensuring EHS procedures and instructions are up-to-date and followed by all personnel.
Supporting EHS risk management and promoting a strong safety culture.
Enhancing employees’ hazard awareness and risk recognition through the “Zero Harm” program.
Monitoring contractor compliance with Huntsman’s EHS requirements.
Preparing, updating, and conducting occupational safety and fire protection training.
Experience and Competencies:
We are looking for experienced candidates with strong EHS knowledge, practical skills, and the ability to influence safety culture across diverse teams.
What we are looking for:
Degree in chemical engineering, another technical field, or specialized EHS qualification.
Minimum 3 years of experience in a related EHS role in the manufacturing industry.
Strong knowledge of EHS principles and compliance requirements.
Practical, hands-on approach with experience in inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
Confident professional English skills (spoken and written).
Excellent communication and influencing skills; ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
Team player, eager to learn, and proactive in promoting a safe culture.
Ability to work fully on-site (remote work only in ad hoc situations); occasional weekend work may be required.
Certified Fire Protection Engineer qualification preferred.
