EHS SPECIALIST
Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will support the EHS Manager in the ongoing development and maintenance of the site’s EHS Management systems. This includes creating procedures, training programs, and strategies to ensure compliance with both corporate and legislative EHS standards. The ideal candidate will play an integral role in fostering a culture of continuous improvement in EHS performance across all departments. The position is based on site in Duxford and operates on a Monday-Friday schedule.

Key Responsibilities:
As a EHS Specialist, you will be responsible for:

Keeping the site up to date with the latest Environmental, Health, Safety, and Process Safety (PSM) legislation and best practices.

Overseeing Effluent Treatment Plant compliance, including coordinating water and air emissions sampling and analysis. Ensuring all records are maintained to meet regulatory and company standards.

Managing controlled waste disposal, optimizing waste budget, and performing contractor and facility audits to ensure compliance. Maintaining detailed records of waste transactions.

Overseeing the reporting system and internal systems to ensure full statutory compliance at both business and departmental levels.

Developing and conducting EHS trainings.

Maintaining site EHS statistics, generating reports, and providing analysis to support decision-making.

Assisting in site-wide risk assessments, industrial hygiene monitoring, and new chemical assessments, including COSHH risk assessments and control measures.

Supporting site emergency planning systems, maintain Duty Manager support systems, and facilitating scheduled emergency drills.

Participating in EHS meetings, facilitating weekly Near Miss meetings, and contributing to the EHS Committee.

Supporting incident/accident investigations, providing advisory input, and developing improvement plans.

Conducting EHS audits, performing routine site inspections, and ensuring EHS compliance standards are upheld.

Supporting Process Safety Standards, including advising on Fire Safety, Hazardous Area Classification, and Process Hazard Assessments.

Providing support or coverage for the EHS Manager or Process Safety Engineer as needed.
Key Requirements
What we are looking for:

Degree in Science or Engineering or NEBOSH certification is required.

Specialist training in Environmental Management; ISO 14001 Internal Auditor certification preferred.

Previous professional experience in the similar role in the manufacturing industry is required. Experience in the chemical industry is a strong advantage.

Solid understanding of EHS legislation and implementation.

Experience working with regulatory bodies such as the EA, HSE, and other authorities.

Strong data and metrics focus with experience in root cause investigation and related techniques.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Demonstrated leadership and role-modeling skills.

Self-motivated and organized, with a strong ability to set priorities and manage ambiguity.

Proficiency with MS Office and related software tools.
