Summary/Objective 
Reporting to Fuyao Automotive North America, Inc., this position is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations. The EHS Specialist supports injury prevention, regulatory compliance, safety leadership, and environmental management initiatives. This role works closely with the management team to foster a safety-first culture and promote collaboration across departments to enhance workplace safety and efficiency.


Essential Functions

  1. Assists in developing, implementing, and maintaining EHS programs, policies, and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance and workplace safety. 
  2. Monitors and interprets changes in EHS regulations, ensuring timely updates to company policies and procedures. 
  3. Conducts risk assessments, audits, and inspections to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions. 
  4. Leads or assists in incident investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective action implementation. 
  5. Tracks and reports key safety metrics (leading and lagging indicators) to drive continuous improvement. 
  6. Maintains required regulatory records and ensures timely submission of reports and compliance documentation. 
  7. Facilitates effective communication of EHS policies and updates across all levels of the organization. 
  8. Oversees environmental compliance activities, including hazardous and non-hazardous waste management, wastewater and stormwater regulations, air permitting, and chemical safety. 
  9. Develops and delivers EHS training on hazard communication, machine guarding, energy control (LOTO), industrial hygiene, fall protection, confined space entry, and emergency response. 
  10. Collaborates with the safety committee and management team to address identified safety concerns and implement corrective measures. 
  11. Assists in selecting, purchasing, and evaluating EHS-related equipment and facility modifications to enhance workplace safety. 
  12. Promotes employee engagement in EHS programs through safety meetings, training sessions, and proactive communication. 
  13. Supports continuous improvement initiatives to reduce workplace incidents and improve overall safety performance.
  14. ISO 14001 / 45001 Compliance: Support or lead initiatives for ISO environmental and occupational health certification or compliance
  15. Following up and Maintaining Continuous Improvement projects throughout the year

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.


Work Environment

  1. This job operates in a professional office environment and a manufacturing warehouse environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
  2. Must be 18 years or older

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. The days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.


Travel 

Little to no travel is expected for this position.


Required Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field. 
  2. Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in Environmental Health & Safety, preferably in the automotive industry.

Skills Required
