POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Environmental, Health & Safety Leader (EHS) is responsible for developing and implementing environmental, health, and safety compliance programs and management systems that support a safe, compliant, and high-performing workplace in new BAC manufacturing sites. This role leads establishing the systems required to ensure a safe and compliant start-up and ramp up of new operations to achieve 1.0 Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) and achieve and maintain ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification. The EHS Leader partners closely with Operations, Engineering, Human Resources, Facilities, site leadership, and external agencies to identify and reduce risk, meet regulatory requirements, embed consistent EHS practices into daily operations, and build a culture where safety is a core value.


PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

Compliance Programs and Management Systems

  • Own the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of EHS compliance programs and management systems aligned with federal, state, and local requirements, BAC Global EHS Standards, and business objectives.
  • Develop and execute initiatives that support achievement of a 1.0 TRIR and strengthen the site's safety culture and risk prevention practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that reduce risk, improve compliance performance, and strengthen operational effectiveness.

Environmental Due Diligence

  • Facilitate completion of environmental site assessments and coordinate required follow-up actions.

Permits and Infrastructure

  • Obtain and maintain required environmental, health, and safety permits and licenses.
  • Ensure the facility is equipped with appropriate safeguards, controls, systems, and protective devices.
  • Engage FM Global and other external partners as needed to address property protection, risk engineering, and loss prevention requirements.

 

 

BAC EHS Management System

  • Develop and implement an EHS management system that meets BAC Global EHS Standards, including SN-1 through SN-12.
  • Establish governance, documentation, audit processes, corrective-action tracking, and management review practices that support sustained compliance.

EHS Programs and Training

  • Develop and implement comprehensive EHS programs, procedures, job aids, and training that support compliance with applicable regulations and BAC high-risk work standards.
  • Launch EHS onboarding modules for employees and leaders and reinforce expectations through ongoing education and communication.

Digital Platforms and Reporting

  • Set up and deploy MyLearning, Gensuite, MSDSOnline, and Headcount to support training, compliance, chemical management, reporting, and workforce data requirements.
  • Establish dashboards, metrics, and reporting processes for EHS key performance indicators, trends, risks, and corrective actions.

ISO Certification

  • Own the establishment and implementation of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
  • Lead site readiness activities, gap assessments, documentation, internal audits, corrective actions, and certification preparation required to achieve and maintain ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification.

NATURE AND SCOPE

 

This position operates with a high degree of independence and serves as the site leader and subject matter expert for environmental, health, and safety compliance, management systems, and risk reduction. The role translates regulatory requirements and BAC Global EHS Standards into practical programs, controls, training, and operating practices.


The EHS Leader works across functions and levels of the organization to influence safe behaviors, ensure accountability, and integrate EHS considerations into facility design, equipment installation, operational readiness, and ongoing plant activities. The position regularly engages with regulatory agencies, consultants, auditors, and risk-management partners and exercises sound judgment on matters that may have significant employee, environmental, operational, financial, or reputational impact.

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental health and safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive EHS experience in manufacturing, industrial operations, construction, or a similarly complex environment.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing EHS compliance programs and management systems.
  • Experience establishing, implementing, or maintaining ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems and supporting certification audits.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Experience with environmental permitting, site assessments, high-risk work programs, incident prevention, corrective-action management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to analyze EHS data, establish meaningful KPIs, identify trends, and translate findings into practical actions.
  • Experience implementing or administering EHS digital platforms and learning systems; familiarity with MyLearning, Gensuite, MSDSOnline, and workforce headcount systems is preferred.
  • Strong project leadership, organizational, communication, training, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with operations leaders, employees, contractors, regulatory agencies, auditors, and external risk-management partners.
  • Professional certification such as CSP, CIH, CHMM, or equivalent is preferred.

BAC Hiring Compensation Range: $98400-$168900
