Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain a positive culture of engagement in EH&S.
• Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental legislation. Monitor legislation changes and ensure any new requirements are implemented.
• Participate in reviews of third-party compliance audits in collaboration with site and business unit EH&S leaders.
• Maintain an effective EH&S management system for the site/facility.
• Develop EH&S strategy and recommend EH&S goals and objectives to improve performance for the site.
• Ensure all Zeiss safety initiatives and programs are deployed to achieve EH&S goals and strategy for the site.
• Ensure that EH&S risks are assessed, quantified, and prioritized. Ensure they are controlled and managed.
• Communicate with all levels in the organization on EH&S to engage with, influence and partner with the site location leader and the leadership team.
• Participate in EH&S inspections and audits as required. Direct responsibility for audits and inspections at the site.
• Deliver EH&S training to site leaders, business leaders and employees in consultation with business unit EH&S leaders. Direct responsibility for EH&S training at the site.
• Participate and support functional leaders in incident investigations and advise management on corrective actions.
• Trend analysis of EH&S incidents for the India site and advise business unit EH&S leaders and India leadership team on follow up.
• Be an active member and share best practices with other members of the Zeiss global EH&S community.
• Report all EH&S data as required by Zeiss and applicable legal requirements.
• Encourage management recognition of behaviours and results which drive EH&S improvements.

Qualifications:

• Degree in environmental health and safety, health and safety, or a related field.
• Prior work experience (at least 8-10 years) leading a team in a senior H&S position preferably from Industrial Construction background.
• Managing and putting into practice Health and Safety management system
• Should have good written & oral communication skills in English, hands-on familiarity with MS Office software packages.
• Should have good knowledge of safety systems to be followed on construction sites as well as knowledge of safety standards being used on construction sites internationally.
• Should have good knowledge of safety control systems like work method statements, job safety analysis, permit-to-work systems, gate-control systems, etc.
• Should have good knowledge of the rules and regulations / statutory authorities’ requirements on the subject of safety.
• Should have good man-management skills and apply them strongly at site to get safety systems implemented at site consistently.
• Preferably should have worked on time bound industrial projects.
• Should have strong Result Orientation and capability to operate in multi-functional teams.
• Past work experience with PMC/Manufacturing Industries would be an added advantage.
• Safety qualification from NICMAR, Minimum 1 year duration diploma conducted by state factories rules/ BOCW Central Rules or equivalent would be a definitive preference.
