Job Title

EHS ManagerResponsible for managing activities related to environmental, health, and safety control.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Manages all environmental, health and safety activities that are required by Federal, State, Provincial, and various local government entities.
  • Ensures regulatory compliance and reports improvement opportunities to top management.
  • Provides environmental, health and safety training as required by company policy and regulatory authorities.
  • Manages and improves the facility’s environmental, health and safety management system, based on ISO 14001 and 45001.
  • Tracks environmental, health and safety performance.
  • Plans, implements, and coordinates programs to reduce or eliminate occupational injuries, illnesses, deaths, and regulatory risk.
  • Identifies and appraises conditions which could produce accidents and liability; proactively develops strategies to mitigate risks.
  • Develops accident-prevention programs for incorporation into operational policies of organization.
  • Coordinates safety activities of unit managers to ensure implementation of safety activities throughout organization.
  • Maintains liaison with outside organizations, such as fire departments, to assure information exchange and mutual assistance.
  • Devises methods to evaluate safety program and conducts or directs evaluations.
  • Evaluates technical and scientific publications concerned with safety management and participates in activities of related professional organizations to update knowledge of safety program developments.
  • Responsible for sharing skills and knowledge; trains other employees.
  • Participates in continuous improvement efforts. Supports and helps to implement new ideas.
Job Requirements:

Education/Experience:

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree plus 3-5 years related work experience or 10 years related work experience.
  • Preferred: Active member of an EHS-related professional association.  Certified as an ASP/CSP/CHMM/CIH or an active learner who demonstrates deep knowledge of EHS issues.
Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Requires the ability to prioritize and balance multiple ongoing tasks.

  • Requires advanced understanding of all applicable local, state and federal regulations, with demonstrated ability to read and interpret all environmental, health and safety regulations.

  • Performs detail-oriented tasks utilizing high language and math skills.

  • Must be able to function within a team environment

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills including ability to listen attentively and to communicate information clearly and effectively

  • Must be able to work with a diverse variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds

  • Ability to prioritize and balance multiple ongoing tasks

  • Proficient in internal and external networking.

  • Proficient in multiple software applications including, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other industry related software (SDS, Injury Management, etc.).

Target Hiring Range

Annual Salary: USD 96,600.00 - USD 127,000.00

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3-5 years related EHS work experience (or 10 years related experience)
  • Knowledge and management of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 based EHS management systems
