Position Summary
The Environmental Health and Safety Lead supports the implementation and administration of EHS programs to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, company policies, and maritime industry standards. This position will conduct safety and environmental activities, support regulatory compliance, assist with training and incident prevention, and identify opportunities to reduce workplace hazards and improve EHS performance. This role will partner with leaders and employees to promote a safe and healthy work environment.

Domestic travel may be required.

Essential Functions

  • Implement and maintain EHS programs to support OSHA, EPA, and maritime compliance
  • Conduct safety audits, assessments, investigations, root cause analyses, and assist with corrective actions
  • Coordinate EHS training, reporting, emergency response planning, and required recordkeeping
  • Partner to identify hazards, promote safe work practices, and support EHS improvement initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications
Required Skills
  • Knowledge of Maritime Safety & OSHA--29 CFR 1910 & 1915, and EPA, and environmental compliance
  • Must have analytical skills with ability to conduct investigations, assessments, and corrective actions
  • Knowledge of EHS systems, regulatory reporting, safety training, and continuous improvement methods
  • Must have strong Microsoft Office Suite computer skills
  • Must have strong organizational, time management, written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have ability to maintain confidentiality and a professional demeanor
  • Must adhere to ISO and OSHA policies established by FMG and have high values for safety awareness

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • 6 years in ship repair, shipbuilding, maritime, or heavy industrial EHS experience required
  • HAZWOPER 40, RCRA, OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR, Shipyard Competent Person and ASP/CSP certifications preferred

Physical Demands and Work Environment
While performing job duties, the employee is frequently required to sit and occasionally stand or walk; use hands and arms to grasp, reach, and type; stoop or kneel; and speak or hear. The position is primarily performed in a quiet, climate-controlled environment with minimal exposure to moving equipment, elements, or risk of injury. Skills Required
