Job Responsibilities:  

  • Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety policies and programs in line with organizational goals.  
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards.  
  • Lead incident investigations, analyze root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.  
  • Provide training and resources to employees on health and safety best practices to ensure compliance and awareness.  
  • Monitor health and safety performance metrics, prepare reports for management and recommend improvements.  
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate health and safety practices into daily operations.  
  • Stay current with local, national, and international health and safety regulations and best practices.  
  • Serve as the primary contact for health and safety inquiries and represent the organization in regulatory discussions.  
  • Manage and mentor health and safety team members to align with organizational goals and compliance requirements.  
  • Promote employee wellness initiatives to enhance overall workplace health.   
  • Meet all applicable air, water, and waste regulations
  • Minimize the cost of environmental management
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of current, revised, and pending EPA regulations:             
  • Maintain the environmental programs required by EPA 
  • Submit and maintain Pollution Prevention Plan (PPA of 1990)
  • Submit and maintain Air Quality Permits              
  • Submit and maintain Water Discharge Permits with City                
  • Schedule, track and expediate all hazardous waste shipments
  • Track and maintain records of all hazardous materials shipments
  • Maintain waste stream analysis records
  • Perform audits to qualify hazardous waste disposal sites               
  • Maintain required reporting record keeping        
  • Collect, review, audit, and archive all daily, weekly, and monthly environmental records 
  • Generate and submit annual EPA reports

   Qualifications:  

  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations, standards, and best practices.  
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.  
  • Proven ability to conduct effective risk assessments and safety audits.  
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to risk management.  
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA) are highly desirable.  
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a dynamic environment.   
  • Manufacturing experience a plus.
  • Proficient in OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA regulations and compliance.
  • 30-hour OSHA safety course required.
  • Certification in First Aid, AED, and CPR required.

 Education:

  •  Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or safety related field.
  • Seven (7) or more years in environmental science or a safety related field.

Salary Range: $121,000-139,000
