The Role
Assists with defending employment discrimination and wage complaints by reviewing charges, investigating facts, interviewing witnesses, interpreting laws and policies, preparing position statements and evidentiary documents, coordinating with counsel, and supporting hearings, mediations, and settlements. Maintains EEO complaint databases and files, manages intake and notifications, and oversees administrative processes for discrimination complaints.

Major Responsibilities

  • Reviews charges of discrimination, assesses company exposure to liability, and assists with making decisions on how case should be handled. Works with outside counsel when appropriate.
  • Prepares company response to include position statement, correspondence, affidavits and other evidentiary documents.
  • Reviews documents, interviews witnesses, reviews Company policies / labor contracts, and conducts analysis based upon facts of case necessary to prepare company defense/response.
  • Reviews statutes, regulations, Company policies and labor contracts to evaluate causes of action and prepare defense of case accordingly.
  • May assist with hearings and mediations as company representative designated to persuade government investigator to find in favor of company.
  • Assists with negotiating and preparing settlement agreements and release documents at hearings and mediations of discrimination complaints.
  • Maintain EEO database and EEO Teams files and library for all EEO complaints. Intake doe all incoming discrimination and wage claims; including notifying locations, scheduling call, updating database, send needed RPN, maintain electronic and paper files (in conjunction with the HR intern).
  • Oversees and conducts administrative efforts for all discrimination complaints.

Minimum Experience or Skills Required

  • Bachelors Degree Required
  • A minimum of 1-2 years experience in employment laws and regulations
  • Spreadsheet Software
  • Word Processing Software
  • Database Software
  • Interpreting laws/regulations and applying them to specific fact situations in a clear and concise manner

Language Requirement
This role requires English proficiency. Federal, state, and local requirements, including U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, require training, safety communications, company policies, employment documents, and other job-related communications be conducted in English.
