Job Title: Educator
Job Status: Full-time
Job Summary: Under limited supervision, the Educator uses intermediate skills obtained through experience and training to conduct educational tours for adults, students and organizations (public and private).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct educational tours at the museum
- Prepare presentations and educational materials for educators and students including presentations on the history and contributions of Arab Americans
- Conduct presentations regarding the Arab American culture both onsite at the Museum as well as other locations (schools, community events, conferences, etc.)
- Assist with the implementation of youth programs and may lead on some programs
- Research information regarding various exhibits and present to audiences as appropriate
- Schedule and coordinate museum visits
- Establish and maintain contact with various clientele requesting museum tours including schools, teachers and various civic organizations
- Maintain records of visitors including payment and invoicing information
- Assist as needed with reviewing grant content and ensuring requirements are met
- Assist as needed with gathering information for grant reporting and writing reports for various grants
- Plan events to increase the number of visitors to the museum
- Operate standard office equipment and use required software applications
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
- Fundamental concepts, principles and practices of Arab American, Ethnic and Middle Eastern history and current events
Skill in:
- Operating standard office equipment and using required software applications for program area and other applications, including Microsoft Office
Ability to:
- Partner with other functional areas to accomplish objectives
- Develop and deliver public presentations
- Interpret and apply policies and identify and recommend changes as appropriate
- Organize and prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the organization
Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:
- Minimum Degree Required:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Required Disciplines:
- Education, Middle Eastern Studies/Arabic or related field

- At least one to two years working as an educator
- Experience of working with children/students is a preferred
- Any equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training approved by Human Resources

Working Conditions:
Hours: Normal business hours, some additional hours may be required
Travel Required: None generally required; Local, in-state, national, and international travel, up to 5%

Skills Required
