Leads and supervises educational programming for children in emergency shelter and group home settings. Hourly Rate: $29.81 an hour.

Language Requirement: Fluency in English and Spanish is required.
Academic Req: Required – Bachelor’s degree; certification by the relevant governing authority, Teaching English as a Second Language/Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages certification or other appropriate accrediting body and additional training to meet the special needs of unaccompanied children

Certifications: First aid, CPR, Emergency behavior intervention

Work experience: Required – At least three (3) years of teaching and supervising, including a minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience

Critical Action Items & Measurable Deliverables:
1.    Meet all federal and state regulatory guidelines and standards that are applicable to this position. 
2.    Hire, train, supervise and provide performance feedback for program personnel in accordance with agency policies and procedures and federal and state standards and requirements. 
3.    Select, acquire, store, issue and inventory classroom equipment, materials and supplies for the educational program. 
4.    Complete all notification and reporting requirements in accordance with state and federal contract and regulatory standards and requirements. 
5.    Collaborate with other teachers and administrators to evaluate the effectiveness of the educational program and make recommendations for improvement as needed. 
6.    Communicate and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among students. 
7.    Effectively communicate with and between facility staff, children, federal staff, legal representatives for services population and other community resources. 
8.    Monitor program data and report to Compass Connections administration and management and the Office of Refugee Resettlement regarding activities and recommendations for the program. 
9.    Participate in service expansion planning, budget preparations and long and short-term planning for the program. 
10.  Maintain confidentiality in all areas of child and program operations. 
11.  Maintain Compass Connections professional and ethical standards of conduct outlined in Compass Connections employee handbook including demonstrating respect for agency staff, clients, and community members and complying with required dress code at all times.

 
Other Responsibilities:
1.    Participate in the assessment, identification, and documentation of the educational needs of all children in care. 
2.    Using learning, knowledge and experience the senior educational facilitator shall collaborate with the educational services facilitators in identifying student instructional needs and developing instructional programs consistent with programmatic expectations. 
3.    Implement an educational curriculum that is culturally competent, develops skills in compulsory domains and reflects current educational best practices. 
4.    Teach one or more subject areas at the level assigned to this position. 
5.    Know, support, and abide by the Compass Connections educational philosophy and culture. 
6.    Travel from one location to another daily. 
7.    Meet predetermined deadlines and reporting requirements for the position. 
8.    Foster Care Programs - Support, encourage, and recruit foster parents.

Requirements:
1.    Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens throughout employment. 
2.    Provide proof of work eligibility status upon request. 
3.    Pass a pre-employment and biennial criminal background checks. 
4.    Demonstrate knowledge of current educational best practices for service population.
5.    Demonstrate the ability to: 
a.    Respond sensitively and competently to the service population’s cultural and socio-economic characteristics.
b.    Work collaboratively with other staff members, service providers and professionals.
c.    Provide crisis intervention according to training provided by Compass Connections when needed to maintain a safe environment. 
d.    Work in a fast-paced environment and maintain emotional control and professional composure at all times. 
e.    Maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position. 
f.    Work effectively and without intensive supervision both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
6.   Demonstrate a working knowledge of all Compass Connections policies and procedures.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree
