Job Description Summary

The Education Programs Assistant supports the Morris Arboretum & Gardens Education Department by assisting with program logistics, communications, and administrative systems across a range of educational offerings. Reporting to the Director of Education, this role plays a key part in ensuring the successful delivery of programs and a high-quality experience for participants and instructors.
This position has a primary focus on supporting the growth and operations of fee-based professional programs, including the Certificate in Ecological Horticulture and the School of Arboriculture. The Education Programs Assistant contributes to program coordination, enrollment support, and ongoing communication efforts, while also assisting across other areas of the Education Department as needed throughout the year.

Job Description

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist with logistics, scheduling, and communications for Adult Education programs, with a primary focus on professional certificate and arboriculture offerings.

  • Coordinate communications with instructors and support instructor onboarding and scheduling.

  • Provide support to instructors and participants for both in-person and virtual programs.

  • Assist with program delivery, including occasional evening and weekend support.

  • Support continuing education processes, including tracking and documentation of CEUs (ISA and LACES).

  • Maintain program records and assist with administrative systems and data tracking.

  • Contribute to enrollment and participant communications to support program growth and engagement.

  • Assist with general Education Department activities and initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School Grad/GE Degree and 5-7 years of comparable work experience, preferably in a non-profit or educational setting.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, program-driven environment.

  • Experience supporting events, programs, or educational initiatives preferred.

  • Flexibility to support occasional evening and weekend programming.
