$30 – $42 per hour (DOE)

Role Objective

We are seeking a skilled EDM Engineer to own programming, setup, and process development for our Wire EDM and Sinker EDM operations. This role combines hands-on programming and machine expertise with process engineering responsibilities — developing repeatable EDM processes for complex geometries, tight tolerances, and difficult-to-machine aerospace materials.

Key Responsibilities

· Program Wire EDM and Sinker EDM machines using EDM CAM software from 2D drawings and 3D models.

· Design and specify electrodes, fixturing, and workholding for EDM operations.

· Set up EDM machines, load programs, align workpieces, and prove out new jobs.

· Develop optimized cut settings, flushing strategies, and electrode wear compensation for various materials and geometries.

· Interpret blueprints and GD&T to establish accurate machining strategies for complex EDM features.

· Troubleshoot run issues including wire breakage, flushing failures, surface finish deviation, and taper.

· Validate first-piece parts using precision inspection tools including optical comparators and CMM when appropriate.

· Drive continuous improvement in EDM cycle time, electrode consumption, and quality yield.

· Document EDM processes including setup sheets, parameter libraries, and tooling specifications.

· Collaborate with Engineering, CNC Programming, and Quality to support NPI and resolve recurring issues.

· Maintain EDM machines including filtration, dielectric fluid, wire and electrode inventory, and routine preventive maintenance.

Qualifications

· High school diploma or GED; technical certificate or associate degree in machining or engineering preferred.

· 5+ years of hands-on EDM experience including programming, setup, and operation.

· Proficient with Wire EDM and/or Sinker EDM CAM software.

· Strong understanding of EDM theory including spark erosion, dielectric behavior, and electrode wear.

· Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, GD&T, and 3D models.

· Proficient with precision measurement tools.

· Experience with a range of materials including tool steels, carbide, Inconel, titanium, and aluminum.

· Strong problem-solving and process troubleshooting skills.

Additional Information

Preferred Skills

· Experience with Mitsubishi, Sodick, Agie, Makino, or Charmilles EDM machines.

· Prior experience in AS9100-certified aerospace manufacturing.

· CAD proficiency (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar).

· Experience designing and fabricating custom electrodes and fixtures.

· Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement tools.

Physical Requirements

· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

· Ability to stand for long periods and move between different workstations.

· Ability to wear required PPE for extended periods.

· Ability to work in a shop environment with exposure to noise, heat, and other manufacturing conditions.

All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
