Overview

CEEW seeks an Editorial Design Intern to work within the Outreach team with a balanced blend of design skills and editorial expertise to support the creation of high-quality institutional knowledge products, including our flagship Annual Report. This role is ideal for someone who can move fluidly between refining text and producing compelling visual elements, ensuring our publications are both editorially sound and visually engaging.

Key Responsibilities

1. Annual Report Development

·       Review internal and external resources on CEEW’s institutional activities to gather content.

·       Draft, refine, and format narrative content in alignment with organisational style and branding.

·       Coordinate inputs from different teams and ensure a cohesive editorial.

·       Ideate and research potential visual directions.

2. Editorial Production

·       Provide light-touch proofreading and copyediting support for publications, briefs, and decks to ensure clarity, coherence, and adherence to CEEW’s editorial guidelines.

·       Maintain editorial and design hygiene, ensuring consistency in formatting, typography, and layout.

·       Organise publication assets and maintain records for knowledge management.

3. Visual Design & Illustration

·       Conceptualise and design publication elements such as covers, section dividers, editorial illustrations, infographics, and data visualisations.

·       Ensure design alignment with CEEW’s brand identity.

·       Design presentation decks and visual assets for publications and related outreach.

4. Workflow & Coordination

·       Track publication timelines, ensuring on-time delivery.

·       Liaise with designers, vendors, and internal stakeholders for smooth production processes.

·       Apply and adhere to CEEW’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in all workflows.

5. Research & Proposal Development

·       Support background research, benchmarking, and idea generation for special outreach and publication projects.

·       Assist in preparing communication-related proposals, concept notes, and drafts for internal/external stakeholders.

Skills & Qualifications

Essential

·       Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) or alternative design softwares for design and illustration.

·       A strong eye for visual storytelling.

·       Strong command of written English with proven proofreading and copyediting skills.

·       Familiarity with end-to-end editorial and design processes for publications.

·       Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects.

Preferred

·       Experience in creating infographics and other data-driven visuals.

·       Knowledge of accessibility standards in publications.
