Editorial and Compliance Expert

General Responsibilities
- Supporting the development and execution of a content strategy that delivers value to pharmaceutical clients, healthcare practitioners, and Elsevier;
- Analyzing and understanding the needs of healthcare practitioners, market dynamics, and competitive landscape to inform content development;
- Establishing and upholding compliance principles and workflows for assigned products, ensuring adherence to company standards;
- Designing and delivering training programs for sales and publishing teams on product-specific editorial and compliance practices;
- Partnering with commercial colleagues to align content strategies with business objectives and customer needs;
- Motivating commercial and agency teams to implement and maintain best-in-class editorial and compliance practices.
Product Portfolio Responsibilities
- Overseeing a diverse range of products, including: Local Editions, Sponsored Supplements and Special Issues, Roundtables, Webinars, Clinical Solutions (e.g., patient education materials, custom chapter/section/full book reprints), Clinics offerings, and Lancet Clinics;
- Maintaining up-to-date editorial guidelines and controls;
- Developing, documenting, and implementing compliant workflows for all products;
- Ensuring team training and adherence to compliant editorial processes;
- Monitoring and managing daily content publication, adjusting as needed;
- Assessing and aligninb content types, schedules, and mediums with market strategies and user engagement goals;
- Overseeing payment processes and resolving operational issues efficiently.
Functional and Technical Competencies
- In-depth knowledge of publishing industry processes, products, and key stakeholders;
- Strong understanding of print and online editorial workflows, procedures, and best practices;
- Expertise in online educational content and medical education offerings;
- Familiarity with the global medical community across specialties to strengthen advisory connections to support products;
- Strong interest in growing business acumen and developing skills in strategy and content solutions;
- Motivation to build and maintain strong partnerships.
Requirements
- A degree and experience in the health or publishing industry;
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage relationships with Key Opinion Leaders;
- Ability to lead and manage external vendors effectively;
- Strong skills in running productive meetings, gaining buy-in, and ensuring team participation across levels;
- Ability to work diplomatically with teams holding different objectives;
- Excellent presentation, written, and video communication abilities at all organizational levels;
- Strong focus on collaboration, both internally and externally.
