Job Title: Editing Coordinator

Job Purpose:

Coordinates and assigns tasks within the Editing and Translation team under the Vice Presidency of Product Development at Northbridge University. The Editing Coordinator supports the Director in recruiting, onboarding, and training new personnel, and is responsible for distributing editing, translation, and learning resources quality assurance tasks among team members. This role ensures deliverables meet institutional quality standards and provides the Director with regular updates on project status and progress. The Senior Coordinator may represent the Department Director in meetings or special activities during periods of vacation, leave, or other absence.

Job Description:

The Editing Coordinator reports directly to the Edirting Director and is responsible for coordinating and assigning tasks to all team members. The role requires a strong understanding of project lifecycles and work schedules within the Vice Presidency of Product Development at Northbridge University, and familiarity with Northbridge's curricular and instructional design models. Candidates must demonstrate expertise in applying grammar and orthographic rules in both English and Spanish, as well as proficiency in APA citation standards for academic content development.

This position demands a high level of commitment, integrity, and leadership to uphold the quality standards of the Vice Presidency of Academic Development and the institution. Experience in personnel supervision or team management is highly desirable.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise editors, translators, and the Learning Resources Quality Assurance team, ensuring deliverables meet institutional standards.
  • Coordinate and assign tasks to team members as directed by the Director.
  • Provide regular project status and progress reports to the Director.
  • Assist the Director in designing and implementing strategies, technologies, and workflows that improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Mentor team members and coordinate training, onboarding, and workshops to enhance editing and translation skills and meet production goals.
  • Collaborate with instructional design, curriculum, multimedia, faculty, and other departments to support course development and academic goals.
  • Support the Director in developing and maintaining style guides and templates to ensure consistency.
  • Identify and resolve issues within the editing and translation teams, as well as concerns related to written instructional content reported by academic community members.
  • Participate in monthly academic product and course development planning with project managers and representatives from other departments.
  • Recommend appropriate technologies, tools, software, and systems for team use and acquisition.
  • Engage in professional development by staying current with industry practices through networking, reading, certifications, and institutional or faculty training.
  • Edit or translate official Northbridge University documents (e.g., letters, reports, policies, manuals) as needed by the Vice Presidency of Academic Development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Translation, Linguistics, Language Technologies, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3–4 years of experience in editing and translation (English and Spanish).
  • Expertise in grammar, spelling, and editorial standards.
  • Experience using and implementing editing and translation tools (e.g., Phrase, Trados, ChatGPT, Grammarly).
  • Ability to evaluate and implement AI tools for editing and translation.
  • Proficiency with productivity and collaboration tools (e.g., MS Office, Teams, Excel, OneDrive, and project tracking platforms).
  • Preferably familiar with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Strong conceptual thinking and adaptability to new technologies and evolving workflows.
  • Demonstrated experience in personnel supervision or team management.
  • Experience designing and delivering training in academic or instructional development settings.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English (oral and written).
  • Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
