About the company
Our client is a semiconductor software company.
The role
Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Own the creation of a core internal engineering tool from an empty repository, from initial architecture through delivery. The work covers device-level modeling, large-scale simulation workflows and output checking, in partnership with optimization and machine learning colleagues. You will also balance runtime against accuracy and explain those choices to technically demanding external users.
What you'll do
- Build a scalable engine that produces behavioral models of digital building blocks, covering delay, energy use and signal integrity.
- Design the compute layer that runs large batches of circuit simulations, including work distribution across a cluster and techniques for reducing the number of runs needed.
- Develop and maintain the tooling that creates and verifies standard library output files, so downstream analysis flows can rely on them.
- Partner with optimization and machine learning colleagues to decide what data they require and expose programmatic interfaces for their workflows.
- Weigh performance against precision, and justify those engineering decisions to expert users.
Requirements
What we're looking for
- At least 3 years of experience in EDA or CAD engineering, with a focus on library characterization.
- Hands-on history of creating characterization software rather than only operating existing tools.
- Solid command of characterization methodology for timing, power and noise.
- Strong circuit simulation background using widely adopted SPICE-class simulators.
- MS or PhD in electrical engineering, computer science or a related field, or a BS with comparable tool-building experience.
- Enthusiasm for working in a small, early-stage environment.
- Genuine interest in circuit modeling and a preference for building over running tools.
- Willingness to work on-site four days each week.
Bonus points
- Experience applying machine learning or surrogate models to speed up characterization.
- Prior R&D work at an established EDA vendor on characterization products.
Benefits
Compensation and benefits
- Base salary: USD 250,000 to 350,000 per year
- Equity
- Relocation assistance
Location and work model
- Los Altos, CA, United States
- Hybrid, 4 days per week in office
- Full-time
