The Tools & Models Team plays a critical role in bringing Altera’s next-generation FPGA devices to Quartus Prime, our flagship design software. Job Summary
The EDA Database Architect will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our cutting-edge database systems to support the development and optimization of FPGA tools and technologies. This role requires a deep understanding of EDA tools, database architecture, and FPGA design methodologies. The ideal candidate will have a passion for solving complex technical challenges and a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop scalable, robust database architecture to support Quartus tools and FPGA design processes.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, define data models, and implement database solutions
Optimize database performance and ensure data integrity and availability
Develop and maintain database documentation, including schemas, data flow diagrams, and procedures
Perform database tuning and troubleshooting to identify and resolve performance issues
Mentor and guide junior database engineers and provide technical leadership
Salary Range
The pay range below is for Bay Area California only. Actual salary may vary based on a number of factors including job location, job-related knowledge, skills, experiences, trainings, etc. We also offer incentive opportunities that reward employees based on individual and company performance.

Qualifications:Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
8-10+ years of experience in database architecture, design, and development, preferably in the EDA or semiconductor industry
Strong understanding of EDA tools and preferably FPGA design tools & methodologies
Experience with data modeling, database optimization, and performance tuning
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency in EDA open standard databases such as OpenAccess, Milkyway, SDF (Standard Delay Format), Liberty, UPF (Unified Power Format)
Experience with FPGA or more specifically Quartus tools
