Job DescriptionAbout the organization
At Electrolux, we are continuing to evolve our digital commerce capabilities across regions, channels and brands. Within the Consumer Direct Interaction organization, we are building a more modular and scalable API-first commerce landscape to support our Direct-to-Consumer business across Europe, APAC and the Americas.
A key part of this journey is developing a composable commerce architecture with SAP Commerce Cloud at its core, while selected capabilities are moved into centralized domain APIs and cloud-native backend services. These services will support areas such as pricing, products, availability, logistics, payments and other commerce-critical domains.
As Ecommerce API Lead, you will play an important role in assessing the current SAP Commerce Cloud / Hybris landscape, identifying where centralized services can improve scalability and maintainability, helping shape the integrations between SAP Commerce Cloud and the central commerce APIs.
All about the role
We are looking for a hands-on technical lead with strong experience in SAP Commerce Cloud / Hybris, combined with proven experience building API-first, cloud-native microservices in a D2C or ecommerce environment.
This is a practical architecture and engineering role. You should be motivated by high impact initiatives which often will require you to unnest technical debt to enable a move to a more scalable approach. The goal is to retain SAP Commerce Cloud for its core capabilities while building a more composable architecture around it through custom backend services.
You will work closely with engineering teams, solution architects, platform teams and commerce stakeholders to define the right service boundaries, integration patterns and migration steps. The ideal candidate for this role has worked with SAP Commerce / Hybris but also has strong hands-on experience building modern backend services outside the SAP ecosystem.
What you’ll do
Review the existing SAP Commerce Cloud / Hybris implementation.
Identify where functionality should be moved to the microservice-based ecommerce platform from SAP Commerce Cloud.
Work with architects to define domain boundaries between microservice-based ecommerce platform and SAP Commerce Cloud.
Design and support integration patterns between SAP Commerce Cloud and microservice-based ecommerce platform.
Work hands-on with engineers to design and implement services.
Collaborate with engineering and product teams to align technical decisions with business needs.
Support release planning and migration sequencing to ensure changes can be delivered safely.
Produce clear technical documentation, dependency maps and API designs.
Who you are
You have strong hands-on experience with SAP Commerce Cloud / Hybris in a production ecommerce environment.
You have strong hands-on experience designing and building API-first microservices in a D2C or ecommerce landscape.
You have experience implementing cloud-native containerized solutions in Azure or AWS.
You are comfortable working across both SAP Commerce platform and modern commerce architecture.
You have experience designing and implementing APIs for enterprise-scale systems.
You can assess existing solutions and break them down into practical migration and integration steps.
You have strong coding experience with Hybris extensions using Java.
You have a good understanding of general backend technologies such as C#, node.js or Kotlin.
You understand event-driven architecture and have worked with technologies such as Kafka, Azure Event Hubs, Event Grid or similar services.
You have experience with databases such as MongoDB and PostgreSQL.
You have experience of CI/CD working with tools such as github, github actions, CircleCi, Azure Devops.
You can communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
You are comfortable leading technical discussions while still staying close to the code.
You are fluent in English.
Desirable
Experience in decoupling functionality from a monolithic and heavily customized SAP platform.
Experience with commerce domains such as pricing, promotions, product catalog, inventory, availability, logistics, checkout and order management.
Experience integrating SAP Commerce Cloud with external services through APIs and events.
Experience with Kubernetes, containerized workloads and cloud-native deployment patterns.
Experience with observability tools such as Datadog, OpenTelemetry, Grafana or similar.
Experience working in multi-region and multi-country ecommerce platforms.
Where you’ll be
