POSITION SUMMARY

To provide high quality Echo procedures to our patients and physicians in a respectful and efficient manner while providing those services in a safe and clean environment.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Formal Education / Training:
Earned a degree/certificate from an accredited Echocardiography program. Must be registered or registry eligible in Echocardiography. Proficient in performing TEE studies, stress echo studies, and use of contrast.
BLS is required within 90 days of hire.

Workplace Experience:
Preference of at least two years of work experience after graduation.

Equipment and Skills Training:
Will train on specific equipment and processes in Echo at Williamson Health.

Physical Environment:
Multimodality imaging department that provides Echocardiograms. Works with cardiologists during TEE’s and Cardioversions.

Physical Effort:
Possesses the ability to perform multifunctional tasks to include: physically manipulate and operate equipment, assist in the movement of patients from wheelchairs to stretchers; bend, twist, stoop; lift 20 pounds; communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing; make appropriate judgment decisions in urgent or emergency situations; and demonstrate emotional stability and psychological health in day-to-day interaction with fellow employees, patients, their families, and physicians. Must be willing to take call for STAT, Urgent, and Routine studies after hours and on weekends and must be available within 30 minutes for STAT Procedures.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

  1. Checks patient identification and physician order to ensure accuracy of request before proceeding with study.
  2. Recognizes abnormal studies and reports appropriately. Understands proper use of Definity.
  3. Seeks opportunities to assist in other areas during downtime periods and always makes good use of time.
  4. Correctly records preliminary calculations and post measurements and findings.
  5. Assist Cardiologists during TEE’s and Cardioversions.
  6. Shows leadership and teamwork in difficult situations and makes appropriate decisions.
  7. Volunteers for overtime and fill-in when needed.
  8. Performs high quality studies consistently and follows pre-determined standards (protocols) and procedures for all echocardiography studies.
  9. Communicates and follows through with fellow employees to ensure that all requests from physicians and patients are completed.
  10. Willing to provide portable studies for patients when it is in the best interest of the patient as deemed necessary by the patient’s nurse or nursing supervisor.
  11. Utilizes knowledge of anatomy and disease processes to accurately communicate patient pathology to Cardiologist.
  12. Responds in a timely manner when on call.

Skills Required

  • Degree or certificate from an accredited Echocardiography program
  • Registered or registry-eligible in Echocardiography
  • Proficient in performing TEE (transesophageal), stress echo studies, and use of contrast
  • BLS certification required within 90 days of hire
  • Preference for at least two years of work experience after graduation
  • Willingness to take call for STAT, urgent, and routine studies after hours and on weekends; available within 30 minutes for STAT procedures
  • Ability to assist in patient transfers, lift up to 20 pounds, perform physical tasks, communicate clearly, and make appropriate judgments in urgent situations
  • Ability to assist cardiologists during TEEs and cardioversions
