General

This is a full-time position that will report to the Chief Pilot / Director of Operations and is responsible for ensuring the approved Flight Operations Training Manual (FOTM) complies with the necessary 14 CFRs to ensure that all crewmember and dispatcher training requirements are met (14 CFR 121.401 through 14 CFR 121.429 and 14 CFR 121.433). The individual in this position will schedule all flight operations training activities and is responsible for maintaining and ensuring all documentation for crewmember, aircraft dispatcher, and flight attendant training records are in accordance with Eastern’s approved training program. The Manager of Training oversees, training instructors including program development, courseware, training aids, classrooms and equipment and interacts with all departments within the Company. The Manager of Training must be detail-oriented and ensure the company remains compliant with training standards, requirements, and records. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to a culture of robust internal controls. Good communication skills are required, and the successful candidate must be able to exhibit the values and culture of the company while working in a fast-paced environment. Flexibility in this role is vital to the training organization; expectations with this role are to understand that duties may be given to you beyond your general scope of work when it is necessary to complete a task.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • The Manager of Training is responsible for ensuring that no crewmember serves as a required crewmember on an airplane unless they have completed either initial, recurrent, transition, ground and flight training, or differences training, as applicable per the Flight Operations Training Manual (FOTM). 
  • On a monthly basis (more Training will notify Crew Services of any pending lapse in qualification of a current crewmember, dispatcher, in the coming month. Such qualifications include, but may not be limited to licenses, specific qualifications, equipment qualifications, line checks, proficiency checks, recurrent training, seat qualification, type qualification, airport and route competence, Instructor/Check airman qualification, CRM training, dangerous goods training, CFIT/ TCAS and security training. If such crewmember does not receive the appropriate training by the required date, the Manager of Training will immediately send a notice of lapse of qualification to the appropriate supervisor and Crew Services to prevent the individual from being utilized.
  • Oversees instructors with course setup and other training requirements;
  • Works with Flight Operations, and Inflight in delivering appropriate employee/team-member training and appropriate contractor training;
  • May at times be the first point of contact for team members at all levels of the organization regarding training; including training needs, plans, deficiencies or suggestions;
  • Oversees the organization and coordination of online and classroom workshops including instructors, travel, and rooms;
  • Reviews and makes recommendations to Sr. Management on enrollment, survey and audit evaluation data;
  • Suggests and sponsors process improvement changes where appropriate and in various departments, assists with training resources;
  • Coordinates the review of and evaluates existing and new training content and programs;
  • Assures required training records for every team member and contractor including training and qualification status are kept for the Company in a secured environment and meets regulatory compliance standards;
  • Reviews training-related invoices and actual dates and/or costs and communicates discrepancies with accounting, management and/or vendors to ensure resolution;
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations, or Chief Pilot.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or greater from an accredited college;
  • Five (5) or more years of training experience, airline training related a plus;
  • Presentation and facilitation skills in classroom or web environments required;
  • Strong computer knowledge in Outlook, MS Word and Excel (intermediatelevel);
  • Ability to work collaboratively with fellow employees and management;
  • Self-starter & goal oriented;
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to exemplify corporate standards;
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills;
  • Detail-oriented and consistently accurate to meet deadlines and multitask in a fast- paced environment;
  • Pass a two- (2) year drug and alcohol background check, pre-employment drug test, and criminal history records check(CHRC);
  • Eligible to work in the United States of America(U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder)
