OVERVIEW
An Early Elementary Coordinator at Hillside Community Church leads the Kinder–2nd Grade ministry environment, creating a warm, safe, joy-filled space where young children begin building foundational faith and trust in Jesus. This role blends relational care, volunteer leadership, and creative programming. The coordinator oversees all curriculum, teaching, worship, crafts, snacks, check-in operations, and budget management while recruiting and shepherding a team of volunteers. They are committed to the vision of seeing God’s hope transform our cities one story at a time, and the mission of experiencing God’s love, Growing in Community, and Serving with Compassion.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Early Elementary Leadership & Programming

Lead all Sunday programming for Kinder–2nd Grade

Plan and execute curriculum, teaching, worship, crafts, activities, and snacks

Create safe, nurturing, engaging learning environments

Foster small group care where each child feels known

Oversee Kids Discipleship Night during two 10-week Discipleship Rhythms
Volunteer Development & Care

Recruit, train, schedule, and shepherd Kinder-2nd Grade volunteers

Build a culture of warmth, safety, and encouragement
-
Provide onboarding, coaching, and appreciation for leaders

Utilize Planning Center Online (PCO) for scheduling and communication
-
Believe the best in others, maintain positivity, refrain from gossip, and model resilience
Check-In & Operations

Oversee Haven side check-in
-
Recruit and train volunteers to create a welcoming family experience

Ensure safety, hospitality, and a smooth family experience
Budget & Administration

Manage Kinder-2nd grade ministry budget responsibly

Track expenses and submit receipts in a timely manner

Steward Divvy credit card with integrity and accountability
Special Events & Seasonal Leadership

Collaborate on the Kids Team Newsletter, partnering weekly with the Communications Team

Communicate clearly and consistently with families

Help plan and host New Families Welcome Events as scheduled

Take a leadership role in Summer Blast week and other major Kids Ministry events

Qualifications
Education & Experience Preferred:

Experience in Kids Ministry or church leadership

Experience recruiting and leading volunteers

Strong organizational and communication skills with staff, volunteers, kids, and parents

Familiarity with Planning Center Online, budgeting, and digital communication

Ability to teach Biblical truth in fun, engaging ways

Child Safety & Mandatory Reporting
The safety and well-being of children are a top priority at Hillside Community Church. This role is a mandated reporter under California law and is required to comply with all child safety policies and procedures. The coordinator must immediately report any suspected abuse, neglect, or unsafe behavior according to church policy and legal requirements. This position requires:

The church is dedicated to helping individuals navigate life by worshipping God, making disciples, and fostering a supportive spiritual environment.
