Responsibilities
- Lead and support the engineering test activities by applying engineering principles, experiences and various analysis tools in following established test plans/procedures to test parts/components in area of specialty to determine design feasibility and ensure parts/components meet design acceptance criteria, performance level targets and any applicable regulatory/internal standards.
- Conduct durability testing and data collection.
- Set up and operate component testing and vehicle rig testing.
- Data analysis tasks to identify trends and anomalies.
- Prepare test reports and presentations.
- Manage multiple testing and data collection projects for an entire vehicle program
- Utilize data acquisition tools to collect data, analyze and report results.
- Conduct vehicle benchmarking for the purpose of target setting.
- Perform vehicle tuning and instrument vehicles for objective tests.
- Analyze and resolve complex problems independently or with minimal guidance.
- Negotiate with other departments internally and suppliers externally to meet the spec requirements.
- Use best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve product and/or processes.
- Coordinate with design and CAE teams to report results and develop countermeasures.
- Search new ways to increase overall efficiency, utilize up-to-date technology.
- Travel to client / test sites required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 5+ years relevant industry experiences.
- 10+ years of durability testing and data collection experience
- 2+ years’ experience of MTS 329 rig testing with drive file development
- 2+ years’ experience of road load data acquisition with data post processing
- 2+ years’ experience with component level testing
- Ability to manage multiple testing and data collection projects concurrently for an entire
- vehicle program
- Understanding of accelerated fatigue testing
- Experience with performing analysis with nCode to perform loads calculations for body, chassis, propulsion, and suspension systems and components
- Experience with Parametric CAD, Catia V6 preferred
- Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, Python, or other programming languages is a plus.
- Proven track record of problem-solving and independent root cause analysis
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
