The Policy & Community Engagement Intern will play a key role in supporting the Domestic, Sexual, and Gender-Based Violence Prevention Initiative (DSG) through policy research and community engagement. Working alongside the DSG Director and Program Manager, the intern will learn how public health organizations collaborate with community partners to prevent violence, promote health equity, and support survivor-centered systems change. The intern will assist with research, outreach, communications, and project coordination that help connect community voices with public health practice. This internship is designed to provide hands-on experience in public health while strengthening skills in research, communication, relationship building, and community engagement.
Tasks may include - Policy Research: Assist with researching laws, policies, and public health initiatives related to domestic, sexual, and gender-based violence, including topics such as housing protections, Title IX, workplace protections, immigration, mandated reporting, and survivor rights.
Help organize and summarize information into clear and accessible materials for staff, community partners, and service providers.
Community Engagement: Assist with outreach to community organizations, advocates, researchers, and other partners to support relationship-building and collaboration. Help prepare for and participate in community meetings, trainings, and outreach events. Assist with organizing project materials, documenting meeting notes, tracking outreach activities, and supporting other program needs as assigned. Participate in team meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities
