As a Drupal Frontend Developer, you will transform creative concepts into engaging, interactive digital experiences within the Drupal CMS environment. You will bridge the gap between design and technical implementation, specializing in Drupal's theming layer while leveraging modern frontend technologies like React for headless scenarios. You will work closely with clients, creative, and project management teams to help deliver high-end solutions.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Translate detailed UI/UX designs from tools like Figma into fully responsive, high-fidelity Drupal themes using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Leverage Drupal's theming layer to create responsive, adaptive themes that integrate seamlessly with modern front-end frameworks.
- Implement headless CMS solutions, integrating front-end applications built with React.js and Next.js with Drupal APIs.
- Write structured, maintainable styles using SCSS/SASS with BEM methodology within Drupal theme structures.
- Collaborate closely with designers and backend engineers to ensure seamless integration between the presentation layer and Drupal's backend functionality.
- Apply frontend best practices, including accessibility standards (WCAG), SEO optimization, and performance tuning within the Drupal ecosystem.
- Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and ensure adherence to coding standards throughout the development process.
- Utilize modern build tools like Webpack or Vite within the CI/CD pipeline for smooth deployment of frontend assets.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- Proven experience building headless CMS solutions and consuming content via REST or GraphQL APIs.
- Strong frontend experience working with Drupal 9+ or other modern CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress, AEM), with the ability to adapt quickly to Drupal’s theming and content architecture.
- Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, SASS/SCSS for scalable CSS architecture, and JavaScript (ES6+).
- Proficiency in modern frontend frameworks, specifically React.js and Next.js, for building headless interfaces.
- Familiarity with basic PHP for understanding Drupal templates and preprocessing logic.
- Comfortable working with Git and modern frontend build tools like Webpack, Vite, or Gulp.
- Strong understanding of web accessibility standards (WCAG), frontend performance optimization, SEO best practices, and web application security (e.g., OWASP Top 10).
Nice to have
- Experience building design systems or reusable component libraries.
- Experience contributing to the Drupal community, including writing patches or supporting contributed themes/modules.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization technologies like Docker and Ddev.
- Experience with Drupal multisite configurations regarding theme inheritance.
- Candidates with strong frontend experience from non-Drupal CMS ecosystems are encouraged to apply.
