The Drone Tinkerers Internship Program is designed for individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in drone and robotics systems. This program focuses on practical exposure to real-world engineering challenges across software, embedded systems, and mechanical design.
Interns will actively work on live projects involving UAV systems, contributing to development, testing, and optimization of real engineering solutions.
Requirements
Candidates should have skills or interest in at least one of the following domains:
- Strong programming fundamentals (data structures, logic building)
- Experience with Python (scripting, automation)
- Basic knowledge of OpenCV / computer vision (image processing, tracking)
- Experience with Raspberry Pi
- Good understanding of C/C++ programming
- Experience with microcontrollers (Arduino, STM32, ESP32, etc.)
- Hardware interfacing (sensors, motors, IMU, etc.)
- Communication protocols (UART, I2C, SPI)
- Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar)
- 3D modeling and assembly design
- Understanding of structural design (strength vs weight optimization)
- Familiarity with fabrication methods (3D printing, laser cutting, CNC)
Note: Expertise in all areas is not required. Proficiency in at least one domain is sufficient.
- Contribute to the development and testing of drone and robotic systems
- Build, analyze, and improve components within your area of expertise
- Work on real-world engineering problems in a hands-on environment
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team
