Job Summary: The Secondary Academic Advisor guides students in academic planning, college and career exploration, and post-high school education. The position works with students and families to support academic progress, college access, financial aid, scholarships, and successful post-secondary transitions.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The position includes but is not limited to the following list of representative duties:

Advise students experiencing academic or attendance challenges

Conduct College and Career Readiness activities and support students and families with academic planning

Work individually with seniors to support successful college and post-secondary transitions
-
Assist with FAFSA nights, College Week, UCAW, ACT/SAT testing, and other college access activities
-
Coordinate college and career exploration activities and connect students with colleges, resources, and support programs
-
Maintain current college access information, scholarship databases, and financial aid resources
-
Assist students with college and scholarship applications, financial aid, fee waivers, and deadlines
-
Arrange college visits and opportunities for students to meet with college advisors
-
Support low-income, low-achieving, DACA, and undocumented students with college access resources
-
Maintain knowledge of current scholarship, financial aid, and college access requirements
-
Collaborate with counselors, administrators, teachers, and families to support student success
-
Other duties as assigned
Schedule:

Typical schedule is Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm (hours may vary based on campus or department needs)

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in a helping profession preferred

Related experience in academic advising, counseling, college access, or student support preferred

Bilingual Spanish preferred
