PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:        

The Donations Supervisor oversees the donor experience at the store, a team of Donation Associates, and all the functions of a working warehouse, including the movement of incoming donation to their respective production areas and the management of inventory for use by the home store as well as other CommunityAid stores.  The Donations Supervisor will ensure and promote a consistent, positive donating experience and process for all CommunityAid Customers and Donors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
 

  • Employee Engagement and Morale – Embrace, exemplify, endorse, and teach CommunityAid’s 12 Core Behaviors; use effective communication skills to hold team meetings and huddles, utilize employee recognition, and communicate with store management to ensure associates fully understand and appreciate the work and mission of Community Aid and understand how their role contributes.
  • Participate in cooperative daily planning huddle with Retail Supervisor and Store Management in order to determine daily store needs and adjust Donations Associates as necessary to meet them.  Ongoing and open communication with entire store leadership team.
  • Operational oversight of the warehouse area, including inventory processing, anticipating and executing for seasonal transitions, and preparation for special sales. 
  • Maintain a working inventory and manage how product is labelled, stored, and moved through the system.
  • Interface with all store departments with an emphasis on coordination and collaboration to meet the needs of the sales floor.  Adjust the warehouse process as necessary to provide product in response to Assistant Manager or other Supervisor requests.
  • Work with store management to ensure adequate staffing, including the onboarding of new warehouse employees.
  • Employee training and development, including system-wide communication, cultural alignment, team building and guidance, and employee recognition.  Communicate performance expectations and best practices, provide coaching, utilize existing performance management tools to fully engage employees.
  • Assist store management in ensuring compliance with all state and federal laws that apply to the company, as well as ensuring that CommunityAid policies and procedures are clearly communicated and upheld. 
  • Facilities and Logistics – Ensure stores are a safe environment for both employees and customers.  Monitor for safety and quickly address and correct unsafe work conditions as necessary.  Keep baler and dock areas functioning safely with special attention given to the use of heavy equipment (baler, forklift, etc.) in a warehouse setting.
  • Analysis and planning – Routinely gather, analyze, and report warehouse performance data, product and marketing intelligence, and other sources of feedback with the clear intention of using this information to adjust with agility to retail and production needs in order to increase sales.

QUALIFICATIONS:
 

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to pass post-offer, pre-employment physical lift test and drug test
  • Customer-facing experience strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 1-year experience working in a warehouse position
  • Ability to obtain Forklift certification
  • Valid PA Driver’s License preferred
  • Minimum age 21 years of age preferred
  • Scheduling flexibility and evenings and weekend availability
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English
  • Adherence to consistent attendance and weekly hours expectations defined by employee’s DoL status (full-time/part-time/seasonal)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
 

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to push and pull up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to stand for extended periods


Skills Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to pass post-offer pre-employment physical lift test and drug test
  • Customer-facing experience
  • Minimum of 1 year warehouse experience
  • Ability to obtain forklift certification
  • Valid PA driver’s license
  • Minimum age 21 years preferred
  • Scheduling flexibility including evenings and weekends
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English
  • Adherence to consistent attendance and weekly hours expectations
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds, push and pull up to 75 pounds, and stand for extended periods
