Job Description:
As a Consultant supporting our Federal government client specifically the DoD, you will work as part of an innovative team to research, prepare, and deliver high-quality solutions. You will be trusted to complete tasks independently, begin leading others in completing tasks, and contribute to the overall team effort to solve challenging problems for the benefit of our customers. The issues to be resolved are often difficult to define and quantify; may involve complex, traditionally competing interests; are often characterized by senior leadership interest and visibility and require extensive proving and analysis.
The successful candidate will have the ability to:
- Work in a team environment to research, prepare and deliver high quality, on-time deliverables to clients.
- Earn client trust through completion of tasks and deliverables that support client outcomes and decision-making, including research, report development, and delivery of recommendations in certain cases.
- Understand and write functional requirements, map processes, develop briefings and job aids to use data, and communicate.
- Independently manages time to complete assigned tasks and contribute to team effort.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, statistics, information systems or related discipline
- 4+ years of relevant, professional experience
- Curious, problem solving, and open-minded approach to work; we are looking for someone who has a base of knowledge but wants to investigate and learn new things
- Experience or training working with large data sets to identify trends, answer questions, and diagnose inconsistencies
- Experience or training working with MS Excel to create pivot tables, design basic graphs and charts, and create simple programs and formulas to assist with automating data transformation
- Experience formulating and executing communications strategies in large organizations to foster engagement from user communities: for example, preparing for meetings, developing presentations, designing basic surveys
- Experience or training working with MS SharePoint to create customized and interactive web pages for dashboarding, information sharing, and collaboration based on procurement data
- Experience or training in developing and implementing roadmaps to support strategic capability development for complex organizations: how do we identify the problem to be solved, design a solution, and work with stakeholders to implement?
- Experience or training working with end users to elicit and document functional requirements for tools and systems that support business and operational processes
- Experience or training documenting requirements in user stories, epics, wireframes, and high-fidelity prototypes in an agile development environment
- Experience writing and delivering training products such as user guides, manuals, video tutorials, and in-person trainings
- Ability to obtain and maintain an active DoD SECRET or Public Trust security clearance
- Thrive in a continuous Build-Measure-Learn cycle
- Engage with technology—with comfort and ease (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Teams, Monday, Slack, etc.)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Direct experience working with Defense procurement processes, data, or systems
- Direct experience working with Defense operational processes, data, or systems
- Experience working with Tableau, Power BI, or other data visualization tools to create sophisticated decision-support dashboards and tools
- Experience working with MS Access, SQL Server, Oracle or other database tools to manage very large amounts of data
- Experience linking MS SharePoint with database and data visualization tools to create sophisticated and highly interactive decision-support dashboards and tools
- Experience writing, implementing, and maintaining Extraction, Transformation, and Load (ETL) processes and protocols
- Experience or training applying modern user research and data analysis tools to real-world problems
- Experience explaining data to laypeople – how to interpret visualizations, how to understand the limitations of the data available, how to apply data to their decision-making processes, how to improve the quality of data presented, etc.
- Active DOD SECRET or Public Trust security clearance
- Experience consulting or working for the Federal government
Job Location and Travel Expectations:
- Must be living in or around the Washington, DC metro area for on-site client meetings multiple times a week.
- Expected travel 25%
