Everforth ECS has an opportunity for a Documentation Specialist in support of the Marine Corps' Manpower and Reserve Affairs (M&RA) Service Treatment Record program by ensuring accurate digitization of paper-based medical and dental records. This role will be responsible for the organization and preparation of paper medical records for transition to digital images in order to expedite the adjudication of USMC Veteran claims processing.
Preferred QualificationsKey Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a knowledge of the overall Service Treatment Record (STR) conversion process.
- Review service member medical records, identify corresponding parts and subparts, sort, organize, and prepare documents for digital conversion (removing staples, folds, illegible docs, etc.).
- Organize the contents of a service member's medical record and prepare it for scanning.
- Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of the service member medical record, including all parts, subparts and verification letters (DD2963).
- Monitor the STR Registry to ensure all cases are uploaded to both STR Registry and HAIMS (Healthcare Artifact and Image Management System).
- Work in a team production environment and be able to perform other duties as assigned.
- Conduct quality control of the digitized record.
- Verify each STR section scanned for correct service member identification and legibility.
- Use provided tools to correct skewed or non-legible documents prior to upload.
- Re-scan documents as needed to meet quality standards.
- Ensure digitized pages achieve functional equivalence with paper STRs.
- Occasionally lift boxes containing medical records weighing up to 35 pounds.
Required Experience/Education
- Associate's degree with 2 years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor's Degree may be substituted for 4 years of experience.
- Must be U.S. Citizen able to pass background investigation and hold Public Trust clearance
- Computer experience:
- Microsoft Office Suite.
- Data entry and Validation.
- Strong attention to detail with an emphasis on quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Have (or obtain) Green Belt Lean Six Sigma Certification.
