JOB TITLE: Dockmaster
DEPARTMENT: Docks
REPORTS TO: General Manager
POSITION PURPOSE:
The Dockmaster is often the first person our customers will interact with when arriving by vessel. The Dockmaster is a strong and motivating leader responsible for the overall operation of the docks. This includes scheduling of dockhands, communication with vessel captains, reservations, maintaining overall safety and cleanliness of the marina, fuel operations, providing the highest level of guest services, concierge, training of new team members, and securing the marina and vessels in the event of inclement weather.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Sets and provides the highest level of customer/guest services and expedites any and all requests from vessels
- Schedules and manages all dockhands in marina related duties such as securing boats, fuel, black water pump outs, connecting and monitoring utility services, and waste disposal. Leads the dockhands by example.
- Performs daily inspection of the docks, works with maintenance manager in scheduling general repair and maintenance of the docks in order to maintain safety and cleanliness standards and to identify issues requiring maintenance, repair or replacement.
- Routinely operates, motor and water vehicles and other various mechanized equipment
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- A broad knowledge of marina operations, boat lifting, boat handling and towing, and equipment maintenance
- Ability to manage and motivate staff
- A positive attitude, the ability to communicate proficiently, and ability to relate to customers in a luxury environment
- Understanding of common marina operational documentation such as agreements, contracts, terms and conditions, marina regulations and must be able to analyze them
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to independently lift, carry, push, and pull up to thirty (30) pounds
- Must be able to swim or be willing to wear a personal flotation device in instances of emergency
- Must be able to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive hand & arm movements frequently, and squeezing & overhead reaching occasionally
- Must be able to express oneself and effectively convey directions and clear instructions to a team of individuals

Skills Required
