Job Summary & Responsibilities
Serves as the subject matter expert on docketing procedures and is responsible for leading, managing, and supervising the Firm's litigation docketing activities.
 
Manage and oversee the daily operations of the docketing department, including setting performance expectations and measurements.
 
Ensure accurate and timely entry of all docketing information into the firm's docketing system.
 
Respond to questions from attorneys and staff regarding procedural aspects of docketing nationwide.
 
Conduct regular audits of the docketing system to ensure accuracy and compliance.
 
Develop and implement docketing procedures and best practices. Regularly recommends and implements process improvements and changes to increase efficiency and improve service levels.
 
Partners with internal and external subject matter experts to update docketing standards.
 
Stay updated on changes in court rules and procedures; summarize and communicate with docketing and legal teams.
 
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with technology and services vendors.
 
Serve as an escalation point for the team, and act as a liaison to IT and outside vendors on litigation docketing matters and processes.
 
Train and supervise docketing staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
 
Generate reports and provide updates on docketing activities and compliance.
 
Manages large projects and carries project through to completion with infrequent direction. Makes management decisions necessary to complete projects.
 
Uses excellent verbal, written and communication skills, and is courteous and professional at all times.
 
Keeps supervisor abreast of current issues and potential problems as they develop; seeks advice as needed.
 
Supervisor Skills: 
May supervise the Docketing Specialist-Litigation. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Preferred QualificationsBachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; minimum four to six years litigation docketing experience, OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
