Purpose:
To receive information about the schedule of vessels in the docks.
To obtain approval for any repair works if necessary.
To ensure safety and environmental compliance for all docking operations
To communicate with maintenance foreman to execute on time maintenance/ repairs
External Communication:
Port Pilots
Port Authority
Purpose:
To Assist Dock Master to coordinate with Port berthing assistants and Port Pilots, during docking and undocking operation for safe operation.
Approval for docking/ undocking.
Obtain weather updates and to exchange other marine notifications/ information.
Occupational Health & Safety and Environment
Accountability:
Are accountable for their acts and omissions.
Responsibility:
To follow agreed safe systems of work; to follow training and instructions; and to report accidents, incidents and near misses.
Authority:
To stop work if they think the work is unsafe.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
• To assist Dock Master to handle day to day docking/undocking operations and maintain log book
• Assit the Dock Master to coordinate quay side vessel movements/shifting operations
• Assist Dock Master to monitor and coordinate the docks/shiplift blocks arrangement.
• Rigorously support to follow the preventive and breakdown maintenance plan, and ensure implementation by Milaha Ship Management. Ensure that all equipment onboard is well-maintained and fully operational.
• Assist Dock Master to ensure floating dock is maintained and class surveys are carried out as required
• Assist Dock Master to conduct safety briefing/toolbox talk prior to dock operations and maintain relevant documentations
• Support Dock Master to ensure mooring/ dock maintenance teams are adequately trained to meet the highest standards of quality, safety and efficiency during operations
• Support Dock Master to maintain documentation/ drawings of ship lift and floating docks, ensure compliance in accordance with Milaha Ship Management guidance
• Assist Dock Master to put forward requisitions of spare parts and materials to repair and maintain floating dock and ship lift
• Assist Dock Master during installation of machineries of both ship lift and floating docks
• Assist the Dock Master to facilitate the custody of operation manuals
• Ensure that all operations are carried out in a safe and environment friendly manner and in compliance with the relevant management system policies and procedures (Quality, Health & Safety, Environment, Security, etc.).
• Follow Milaha management systems, processes and procedures to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and other requirements/standards
• Work safely at all times, protecting the health and safety of everyone in the workplace
• Any other duties and responsibilities assigned by Management.
Education & Professional Qualification:
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Technical Training School Diploma or Naval Architecture
Professional Experience:
2-3 years experience in assisting of operating floating dock and ship lift
Geographic Experience:
Middle East experience preferred
Computer Skills:
MS Office
Language Skills:
Business fluent English
Market/Industry/Functional Knowledge:
Knowledge of docking/ undocking operations
Skills Required
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Technical Training School Diploma, or Naval Architecture qualification
- 2–3 years of experience assisting with floating dock and ship lift operations
- Business-fluent English
- MS Office proficiency
- Knowledge of docking and undocking operations
- Middle East experience
