POSITION SUMMARY

The Program Director is responsible for the quality and compliant functioning of the Diagnostic Medical Sonography ("DMS") program, including supervision of instruction for quality and compliance with accreditation standards as well as maintaining high student certification exam pass rates and placement rates. The Program Director reports to the Campus Director and the Corporate Director of Academic Operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• With the Campus Director, evaluates instructor performance based on classroom observations, student feedback/surveys, and meetings and provides feedback to instructors regarding performance, including corrective feedback for performance improvement.

• Teaches DMS classes as assigned. Provides a professional role model for students.

• Upon recommendation of instructor(s), advises and provides support to students relating to grades, attendance and behavior

• Supervises and ensures quality assurance of the campus DMS programs through both internal/external tools (e.g. surveys).

• Ensures compliance with all ACCSC standards and all state and federal regulations.

• Plans, evaluates, makes recommendations for revisions, and supervises the implementation of the approved course curriculum.

• Supervises the DMS Instructors ensures oversight and quality as well as student progress and student concerns.

• Reviews, recommends, and implements selection of textbooks, instructional aids, instructional resources and equipment for the DMS program.

• Coordinates and is responsible for orientation of all new DMS students.

• With the Campus Director and the Corporate Director of Academic Operations, interview s and evaluates instructor applicants.

• Provides orientation and training of new instructors.

• Provides training to ongoing instructors regarding new content and equipment.

• Conducts regular department meetings. Prior to each meeting, submits the agenda to the Corporate Director of Academic Operations for approval. After each meeting, forwards the agenda, minutes, and sign in sheets to the Corporate Director of Academic Operations.

• Interfaces regularly with other departments, especially Admissions, Financial Aid, Placement, and the Registrar.

• Ensures that student progress/grade reports are completed by instructors in a timely manner.

• Performs all other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

• Possesses a thorough knowledge of the DMS program requirements, accreditation, and approval standards.

• Ability to provide flexible leadership, coaching and development to faculty members who have a variety of backgrounds.

• Ability to teach from a standardized curriculum.

• Demonstrated enthusiasm for teaching and working with adult learners. Provides a professional role model for students.

• Demonstrated exceptional customer focused skills. Ability to address student needs and resolve issues with diplomacy and tact. Is committed to the success of the students and the school.

• Demonstrated Computer literacy skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

• Demonstrated skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students, staff, faculty, and the public. Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population of experiences, personal attributes and backgrounds.

• Possesses clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to set goals and prioritize tasks and/or resources to accomplish those goals; effectively manage time and able to handle multiple tasks while completing them within assigned deadlines

• Possesses a high degree of integrity and commitment to comply with policies, regulations, and codes of conduct governing all aspects of job responsibilities

• Knowledge of career opportunities and the expectations of the industry or profession for entry level employees' skills and experience.

• Must be flexible to meet schedules that include evening and possible weekend hours.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography

• Must have a minimum of three years' experience working in the field as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer.

Must possess a current ARDMS Sonography Certification.
