Group/Division

With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience, chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA to ensure that their fabs ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively. Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design, KLA's Global Products Group (GPG), which is responsible for creating all of KLA’s metrology and inspection products, is looking for the best and the brightest research scientist, software engineers, application development engineers, and senior product technology process engineers. The Surfscan group includes a team of engineers, technology development, apps engineers and product marketing focused on technology that enables wafer, IC and equipment manufacturers to develop, qualify and monitor their process tools. Defects and process non-uniformities detected on Surfscan equipment allow for early identification of yield excursions. The flagship Surfscan products include the SPx platforms for wafer surface quality and wafer defect inspection tools and systems for inspection of polished wafers, epi wafers and engineered substrates during the wafer fabrication process.

Job Description

Primary Responsibilities:

Product Development Engineering as part of the System Home team creating the solutions to support customer in applying KLA advance instrument tools SFS or ADE products resulting in the maximum value for wafer fabrication. Exercise judgment within DFX, PLC process, practices and policies in selecting methods, and techniques for achieving optimal results. Must have the knowledge and experience to effectively work with engineers in optics, laser, stage, loader, image computer, and algorithms to actively assist in resolving or developing feature to meet customer use-cases. These activities will have included the development and release of new options, features that provide more value to our customers (external or internal).

Work on product SW/HW enhancement, diagnosis requiring in-depth system knowledge and understanding of operating principles, application level in algorithm or software issues debugging, etc. Focus on projects related to new products such as characterization, alpha, beta testing and pilot tools in the ramp phase in customer site and test phases of programs, which includes testing against the design tolerances and the marketing specifications of a product release. Generate the best known method documents, design notes, and work with product support team to transfer product knowledge.

Additional responsibilities may include:

Working with local service team and customer to understand product improvement ideas in the areas of design, quality, process, reliability, adaptability, serviceability and cost of ownership. Acts as Technical Engineering representative for high level field support and post mortem meeting with customer. Carry out testing at customer sites to efficiently and effectively resolve technical issues during and after product release.

Requirements:

  • Master with 2 years of demonstrated experience or combination of education and experience in engineering applications.
  • Act independently and with minimum of planning, work scope define, project progress control, including post-mortem actions.
  • Mech-Electronics-Electrical interface diagnostics and troubleshooting;
  • Mechanical machine parts design or function improvement projects; Documentation, plan and procedure writing.
  • Ability to quickly diagnose problems through analysis of inspection reports, system log files, system parametric diagnostic data and other test results, and provide solutions.
  • Manage SPx/WSx tool configuration to keep updated with KLA PE programs with customer RD developing requirements at assigned customer site.
  • Support the customer satisfaction improvement at the major wafer houses customers.
  • SPx/WSx new product introduction, setup, field readiness, CIP and productivity support to PLC exit programs, etc.
  • Software ability in Solidworks, Python, etc. is plus.
  • Able to travel up to 40%.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master with 2 years of demonstrated experience or combination of education and experience in engineering applications.
  • Major background in Optics, Electorcnis, Electrical engineering, Mechanical engineering.
