Job Title: Division Accountant
Location: Tupelo, MS
Job Summary
Division Accountant manages the financial operations, job-cost tracking, and reporting specific to a division within a larger construction or contracting company.
Key Responsibilities
- Job Costing & WIP: Track project costs, manage Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules, and monitor budget-versus-actual expenses.
- Billing & Revenue: Handle progress billings, client invoices, retainage tracking, and appropriate revenue recognition methods (such as the percentage-of-completion method).
- Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process vendor invoices, monitor aged receivables, and manage lien waivers or sub-contractor payments.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly financial statements, balance sheet reconciliations, and division-specific cash flow or cost-forecasting reports. [
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Project Managers, operational leads, and corporate accounting to review job performance and address change orders.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
- Experience: 3 to 5 years of accounting experience, ideally within the construction or project-based industry.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in construction-specific ERP or accounting software (such as Sage, Viewpoint/Vista, Procore, Foundation, or CMiC) and advanced Microsoft Excel.
- Industry Knowledge: Understanding of construction accounting principles, retainage, bonding, lien laws, and GAAP compliance.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen with a “Negative” result.
- Must be able to complete a post- offer physical with a “Capable” result
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Be willing to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold
Work Environment:
This role operates in both office and active construction site environments. Candidate must be able to perform site walks, attend field meetings, and ensure on-site safety and compliance.
