Go deeper: In this role, you will oversee Axios’s efforts in fostering a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging. You will work closely with leadership, employees, and Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to implement and advance programs that align with our mission. Your primary responsibilities include:
- Partnering with ERG leadership on budget, programming, policies, and employee engagement; Managing ERG budgets and tracking monthly expenses; Recruiting internally for ERG leaders and executive sponsors as needed.
- Conducting the annual Diversity & Inclusion survey; Preparing the data analysis, annual DEI report and Newsletter; Leading a town hall and/or office hours for employee Q&A on the DEI report.
- During your first year: Conducting an assessment of our current state and creating an action plan for our DEI program; Developing and implementing a comprehensive DEI strategy that aligns with Axios’s mission and values.
- Serving as an internal partner to leadership teams to identify DEI opportunities within their departments.
- Providing training and resources on DEI topics, ensuring employees at all levels are equipped to contribute to an inclusive workplace.
- Maintaining a calendar of culturally diverse events, holidays, and recognition dates to use as an organizational education tool.
- Reviewing organizational processes and policies through an equity lens and working with stakeholders to make updates that eliminate bias and promote equity.
The details: This position requires the following:
- At least 5 years of experience in a DEI role; experience leading a DEI program is preferred.
- Comfort with navigating ambiguity with autonomy, and taking ownership in determining the next step forward.
- Proven experience collaborating and partnering with colleagues at all levels.
- Strong empathy and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting to the company and facilitating conversations.
- Experience with analyzing data sets and preparing key findings; strong Excel or Google Sheets skills are required.
- Strong written communication; you will draft frequent company communications in our Smart Brevity format.
Starting salary for this role is in the range of $90,000 - $121,000 and is dependent on numerous factors, including but not limited to location, work experience, and skills. This range does not include other compensation and benefits. Axios' compensation philosophy takes into account cost of labor differentials across the country. Because this is a remote-optional job posting, this salary range takes into account all possible locations within the United States, but candidates will only be eligible for the salary range for their location.
