The DEI Team works closely with the Global Managing Partner for DEI, the Global DEI Committee, various regional committees and networks, and firm management to achieve the firm's diversity and inclusion goals.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The role of the DEI Manager is to work closely with the Global Managing Partner for DEI and Chair of the APAC DEI Committee in the implementation and coordination of the firm's strategic objectives for the DEI department. Under the guidance of the Global Managing Partner for DEI and Chair of the APAC DEI Committee, the DEI Manager should be able to work independently, in a highly organised manner, and prioritize their workload while working in a fast-paced environment in a role that is equally substantive and administrative.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Responsible for the implementation and coordination of tasks and duties required to execute our global DEI plan in region by performing a broad spectrum of substantively creative and administrative duties that require independent decision making, discretion, and judgment
  • Keeps the Global Managing Partner for DEI, Regional Managing Partner and Chair of the APAC DEI Committee apprised of current DEI issues and potential problems as they develop; seeks advice and guidance as needed
  • Leads and organises  various network, events and committee meetings for the region (including the APAC DEI Committee, Pride+ network, HL Women and disability network) as needed, helps DEI Champions and stakeholders to prepare agenda items and summaries for circulation; plans and executes local events, guides stakeholders in local offices in planning and executing the DEI events, tracks events for the region and local offices in the region, and prepares related internal and external collateral and communications.
  • Responsible for tracking, monitoring and maintaining accurate accounts of all expenses and balances of APAC to support the global DEI budget
  • Leads preparation of diversity-related statistical and qualitative information for the regional leadership team and other DEI stakeholders, and supports M&BD in quarterly reporting and as needed to respond to client DEI requests; work closely with HRIS personnel as needed
  • Provides substantive drafting of diversity-related communications (internal and external), including RFQs, reports, submissions, awards and surveys requiring research, analysis and evaluation, and internal announcements and newsletters, as well as external communications; working closely with the regional and global Communications contacts to oversee external PR content
  • Coordinates with other firm departments and offices on diversity-related initiatives including sponsorships, benchmarking assessments, surveys, and competitive and marketplace research on diversity trends
  • Has intermediate substantive knowledge of DEI issues impacting professional organizations, and can communicate about them with confidence; acting as the leading voice and thought leader internally on DEI matters in the APAC region
  • Attends meetings as requested to provide information and serve as a point of contact/resource on behalf of the DEI department
  • Prepares regional communications on DEI related to global celebration days and other key DEI activities, ensuring these are tailored to regional needs an
  • Coordinates or works with others to coordinate site/catering/audio visual reservations for internal and external diversity events
  • Serves as liaison with internal and external parties on matters related to the DEI department (e.g., answer questions concerning departmental activities and transmit instructions and/or information to and from diversity members)
  • Works closely with the regional leadership team in the planning and coordination of conferences, workshops, programs and meetings across the region related to DEI, including all logistical components, and marketing and promotion of the DEI department to support offerings such as trainings, workshops, and special events
  • Supports the Chair of APAC DEI Committee and other relevant stakeholders in preparation for external engagements
  • Supports the cohesion of the global DEI team and coordinates among them in support of the global and regional DEI plans
  • Delivers trainings on basic DEI concepts, and feels comfortable facilitating conversations on DEI
  • Has the ability to represent the DEI department at client and industry events providing a meaningful contribution
  • Computes complex demographic data replete with verified trends and analysis without extensive oversight
  • Maintains internal SharePoint pages, website, records of awards and other administrative repositories for the region
  • Participates in our global Responsible Business program from DEI perspectives
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of four years related experience in a law firm or professional services organisation required
  • University degree required.  Advance degree preferred
  • DEI certificate or another significant DEI credential strongly preferred
  • Balance of law firm diversity experience and education/certification will be taken into consideration.
