The Distressed Products Group desk makes markets in distressed bonds, distressed loans and par loans across all European markets. It also covers emerging markets (EM) such as Latin America and Eastern Europe. The team is largely managed out of London.
The desk also undertakes significant positioning alongside co-investors in active restructurings, insolvency situations, and strategic roles in formulating direction (debt for equity, conversions, rights issues, enforcements, inter-creditor negotiations, litigation, and operations)
It also provides new money in situations where access to normal markets is challenging, such as daylight facilities, insolvency estate funding, post-restructuring working capital needs, development funding, and leverage to portfolio bidders.

Your key responsibilities
-
Management of the receipt and delivery of confidential information in support of the desk’s trading functions

Draft and negotiate confidentiality agreements, liaise with the compliance team to ensure maintenance of restricted trading lists, review and analyse credit agreements

Work with traders, sales and sourcing teams and customers to ensure confidential information is exchanged on an expedited basis to meet trading deadlines

Legal documentation for distressed/ par trades in the United Kingdom region. Responsible for drafting legal documentation, negotiation with counterparties and ensuring timely closing of trades

Provide support in fresh investment/ trading efforts as well as dealing with any issues in existing positions

Resolution and recovery of non-performing loans/portfolios. From time to time, provide legal assistance with resolution/ recovery processes of defaulted credits
Your skills and experience
-
Educated to University level or equivalent qualification/work experience, graduating from top Law College
-
Experience in a top law firm or a financial institution will be preferred

Legal Risk exposure, understanding of how Loan documentation works would be preferred
-
Good understanding of insolvency and bankruptcy procedures would be preferred

A good commercial sense, strong writing and communication skills and willingness to learn the industry practices

Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills and attention to detail
