Are you a driven reporter ready to break financial news and work on in-depth corporate analysis? We are seeking a journalist who is ready to report on the intricacies of the EMEA credit market and with a strong interest in source-driven journalism. There will be ample opportunity to work with passionate reporters, analysts and lawyers from diverse backgrounds and deepen your knowledge of financial markets.

The ideal candidate needs to be able to network efficiently, build a strong portfolio of industry contacts and dive into the legal and financial dynamics of the distressed debt market. They will also be required to work quickly and accurately and have a strong eye for details. The ability to work collaboratively with other professionals is essential.
Fluency in French is a big plus.

Responsibilities

  • Write source-driven, off-diary exclusive stories on the EMEA credit market and corporates bankruptcies
  • Build a solid portfolio of industry sources
  • Collaborate with a team of experienced journalists, financial analysts and lawyers to shape content
  • Break news and work on in-depth analytic pieces
  • Find and attend industry conferences
  • Come up with new coverage ideas

Requirements

  • Interest in writing about finance and credit markets
  • Ability to develop and maintain new sources
  • Existing contacts in the high-yield and/or leveraged loan markets are a plus but not essential
  • Understanding of the dynamics of the high-yield and leveraged loan markets or restructuring/bankruptcy space are a plus but not essential
  • Ability to work with numbers and dive into companies’ balance sheets
  • Excellent standard of written and spoken English and appreciation of style
  • Excellent time management and communication skills
  • A self-starter attitude and ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a team under tight deadlines
  • Fluency in French is a big plus
