Walmart is looking for a passionate Data Architect to be part of the core senior technology leadership team in Data & Customer Analytics organization.

About Team

The Data & customer analytics team for US Omni tech closely partners with our U.S. stores and eCommerce business to serve customers by empowering associates, stores, and merchants with technology innovation.

Walmart U.S. provides the deep assortment that our customers appreciate — whether they're shopping online at Walmart.com, through one of our mobile apps or shopping in a store. The focus areas include customer, stores and associates, in-store service, merchant tools, merchant data science and search & personalization.

By relating directly to the customer journey, covering areas like, Supply chain, Merchandizing & Marketing.

The access to all the US omni data, help us in getting the data into data lake making us the largest data org with 700 + global data team.

What you'll do:

• As a Data Architect(X7 IC), you’ll have the opportunity to be part of the core senior technology leadership team in Data&Customer Analytics organisation. You will be focused on building the next generation data engineering landscape for Walmart US. This role would lead data engineering/data product solutioning/strategizing (data strategy, devops strategy) spanning across domains within DCA.

• The successful candidate will be able influence algo development that will shape our next-gen data platforms. Additionally, the role will entail the following responsibilities: 

• Coaching and developing high-performance team: Mentor/coach teams of data engineers to ensure high quality business deliverables are met.

• Business Thought Partnership: Provide thought leadership and counsel to stakeholders in exploring possible data solutions to address business questions and business needs. Define problem statement. Translate business requirements into data / analytic strategies, initiatives, and projects, align them to business team’s strategy and objectives. Synthesize data(structured/unstructured) from different sources, provide data models/actionable business insights and / or analytic solution to stakeholders.

• Technical leadership for data community: Develop expertise of the data domains that are owned and / or related to the business function that this role supports. Train and coach data engineers in mastering technical knowledge of the respective data domains to deliver data engineering/analytic solutions / insights for business stakeholders. Be one of key voices from DCA is various tech councils at Walmart.

• Innovation and Optimisation: Understand the latest trends w.r.t data engineering and ideate and solve next generation data engineering products with a innovation mindset. Have EDLC is everything that’s done and continuously provide solutions which lead to cloud optimizations. Guide the teams towards optimization data solutions. Strategize spreading of near real time and self-serve capabilities within the organization in a sustainable way.

• Collaboration: Collaborate closely with teams outside of DCA (GTP, Data Governance) to ensure high standards w.r.t Data Quality, Data Security and overall Data Governance thereby ensuring compliance to data audits.
• Research and drive in bringing in open-source solutions into Data space
• Develop and implement best practices and standards across the Data team
• Engage with Global Data leadership globally in setting up priorities for the team
• Create a collaborative environment across geography for delivering best services to the customers around the globe.
• Provide supervision, mentoring and development opportunities for Senior Managers and Senior Data Architects.
• Attitude to enjoy in a fun, fast-paced environment.

What you'll bring:

We are looking for a technically strong Data Architect (X7), with a proven background as a data architect to enable a high performing technology team that builds scalable data solutions using the latest technologies. The role is designed to be an individual contributor.

• A strong understanding of data and reporting engines, data modelling and warehousing, and data transformations and pipelines for supporting real time and batch-oriented events processing.
• Experience in leading large/medium sized development team as a Distinguished Architect.
• Experience with relational databases (Oracle / My SQL), non-relational databases (Cassandra, HBase) and Big data technologies like Hadoop, Spark
• Experience in building end-to-end data products (DaaS) using latest technologies and architecture (like microservices architecture). This included working knowledge of DevOps.
• Experience with distributed real time / micro batch computation systems such as Spark
• Experience in the Supply chain domain will be a huge positive

Your qualifications

• Good academic record and graduated (B.Tech/ M.Tech) from a reputed institution
• Bachelor’s with 15-22 years of experience OR Masters with 15-20 years of experience in building data integration solutions involving Big Data technologies.
