The Senior Manager/Associate Director, Strategic Business Operations and Analytics will be on a core member of the Strategic Business Operations and Analytics team, a rapidly growing internal consulting group within a growing organization. The team works closely with Flagship’s CEO and Managing Partners in support of driving value throughout the organization and across our companies. This entrepreneurial role is tasked with leading and executing strategic and financial analysis in helping shape the strategy of Flagship, supporting pipeline and platform strategy of our companies, executing competitive intelligence, and informing senior level decision making. S/he will also need to be able to take on novel projects with limited experience but ability to learn rapidly and think flexibly. S/he will also need to think outside the box strategically to help solve a wide range of strategic questions. Last, s/he will need to have strong technical and  interpersonal skills as this role requires meaningful cross-functional interactions across a number of senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and execute projects to help make strategic decisions, such as supporting a company’s emerging strategy, framing important investment decisions related to valuation and capital needs and ad-hoc projects that are critical to the firm.
  • Build creative solutions with analytics, identify high-priority work that maximizes results for stakeholders, and solve complex problems that effect strategic decision making.
  • Lead and own initiatives across Flagship to improve operations, governance and process as it relates to capital allocation decisions and business decisions.
  • Use solid scientific knowledge, financial knowhow and business acumen to build models, interpret data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations that deliver results, drive improvements, and influence leaders
  • Present analyses and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • End-to-end management of finance and strategic projects and initiatives
  • Complete ad hoc requests and perform other duties as needed with minimal oversight in a timely manner
  • Prepare materials/content on key financial metrics and present to Managing Directors and Partners as required
  • Modeling, analyzing, and reporting on new strategic initiatives to inform the business of challenges and potential opportunities
  • Continually learn across topics related to science, finance, strategy, operations, management and others

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in a biological field is preferred.
  • At least 4 years of experience working in management consulting, investment banking or corporate finance within a life sciences firm.
  • Strong communication, presentation, collaboration, and partnership skills, including synthesizing information for senior management and presenting financial information to a non-financial audience.
  • Effective time management, organization, and prioritization skills in managing multiple projects with proven ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work conscientiously and with minimal direction, using good judgment, taking initiative to accomplish short and long-range projects, and recommend actions with minimal direction.
  • Ability to work as a team member, multi-task and be very flexible to adapt to the ever-changing work priorities and requirements of a dynamic, fast-growing company.
  • A "roll-up-your-sleeves" entrepreneurial attitude.
  • Strategic thinker with excellent analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, interpersonal, and relationship building skills.
  • Expertise in MS Office, both PowerPoint and Excel.
