Metropolis is an artificial intelligence company for the real world.
The Role

Metropolis is an artificial intelligence company that uses computer vision technology to enable frictionless, checkout-free experiences in the real world. Today, we are reimagining parking to enable millions of consumers to just "drive in and drive out." We envision a future where people transact in the real world with a speed, ease and convenience that is unparalleled, even online. Tomorrow, we will power checkout-free experiences anywhere you go to make the everyday experiences of living, working, and playing remarkable - giving us back our most valuable asset, time.

As the Director of Workplace Experience, you will be the primary stakeholder overseeing Metropolis’ corporate real estate portfolio, facilities, and related employee experience. You will be a member of the People team, working closely with other members of the Legal, and Finance teams to maximize efficiency and streamline operating costs. In this role, you will also help build a network of facilities services, provide and coordinate general office management support, project manage expansion efforts in various U.S. cities, consolidate vendors and related contracts, report on metrics, and contribute to the overall culture of the organization.

  • Oversee all facility services for our network of Corporate and Regional offices – primarily Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Nashville, Seattle, and Orlando
  • Assist with integration efforts to combine existing offices in shared markets (Los Angeles, New York, and Nashville)
  • Drive operational excellence with vendor partners, onsite support, and internal stakeholder groups such as IT and Security
  • Contribute to the overall employee experience by directing initiatives that align with our company values – including events, employee office perks such as meals and snacks, and other employee engagement drivers
  • Track and analyze office utilization in order to anticipate the company’s needs for growth; make data-driven recommendations to the leadership team
  • Own end-to-end office expansion efforts, including real estate searches and office buildouts - and related budget and construction management. Partner closely with decision-makers and key collaborators, particularly the Legal and Finance teams, to drive alignment.
  • Implement and revise office-related policies
  • Manage and report on the budget for the Workplace Experience department
  • As needed, manage onsite staffing across the office network; make resource recommendations to drive efficiency and ensure operational excellence
  • Detect and fill any gaps in office management services to ensure a consistent employee experience across all major offices

  • High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Real Estate or related field preferred
  • At least seven (7) years of experience in workplace experience, facilities management, real estate, or a related field
  • Experience working for a high-growth technology company with a distributed workforce, including hourly field workers; experience in scaling facilities and services to solve for business and growth needs
  • Project management acumen, specifically in office construction
  • Strong attention to detail in approach to contract management and negotiation
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office; Excel fluency a must
  • Experience utilizing project management tools such as Asana, ProCore, and Smartsheets
  • A proven track record in project delivery (on time / on budget) and workplace experience strategy
  • Strong budget management skills
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced environment and own high-visibility initiatives
  • Existing network of preferred vendor and partner relationships a plus
  • Comfortable with cross-functional partnership and collaboration
  • Discerning and professional approach toward executive-level communications
  • Willingness to pivot and learn as projects and priorities evolve, with a tendency to stay ahead of the curve on internal trends and industry best practices

When you join Metropolis, you’ll join a team of world-class product leaders and engineers, building an ecosystem of technologies at the intersection of parking, mobility, and real estate. Our goal is to build an inclusive culture where everyone has a voice and the best idea wins. You will play a key role in building and maintaining this culture as our organization grows. What We Do

Metropolis is an artificial intelligence company for the real world. Metropolis' computer vision platform enables people to transact in the physical world with even greater ease than we experience online. Today, we are reimagining parking. Because it's important, it's everywhere, and impacts everyone – enabling millions of consumers to just "drive in and drive out" – that's it. Tomorrow, we will power "checkout-free" experiences anywhere you go.

Why Work With Us

We’re not your typical technology company. We’re world-class software and hardware engineers, we’re neighborhood urbanists and operators, we’re caring customer support specialists, we’re nerdy data scientists and machine learning engineers, we’re designers and architects… and many things in-between and beyond.
