Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Director / Director to lead the Value Realization Office (VRO) process for material, transformational initiatives across the project lifecycle. This role partners closely with project owners, executive sponsors, Finance, and DTE to define how value will be measured, establish baseline and reporting approaches, and monitor realized value against agreed objectives. The position is central to building a disciplined, consistent approach to value delivery, helping ensure strategic initiatives achieve measurable outcomes and addressing risks or variances when performance is off track.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead execution of the Value Realization Framework for in-scope, material, and transformational initiatives.
  • Partner with project owners and key stakeholders to define success metrics, baseline methodology, and reporting approaches that support clear and credible value measurement.
  • Facilitate VRO intake and kickoff activities, reviewing initiative materials such as current state, target state, cost to achieve, ownership, dependencies, and expected outcomes.
  • Provide thoughtful challenge and guidance on proposed metrics, measurement methods, and baseline assumptions to strengthen consistency and decision-making.
  • Confirm sign-off criteria for success metrics, target or baseline values, reporting cadence, measurability confidence, and accountability before initiatives move into ongoing monitoring.
  • Establish and maintain a structured governance and reporting cadence, including regular review of initiative scorecards and reporting packages.
  • Review realized value against agreed metrics, baseline, and budget inputs to assess progress and determine whether expected outcomes are being achieved.
  • Evaluate measurability confidence for each metric and ensure assumptions, confidence levels, and Finance validation are documented where applicable.
  • Escalate material risks, unresolved gaps, and value delivery variances, and support corrective action, re-baselining, closeout, or extension decisions as needed.
  • Drive adoption of consistent value measurement practices across financial, operational, risk/compliance, decision support, and workforce-related outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • Significant experience in finance, strategic planning, transformation, program leadership, PMO leadership, reporting, or related business functions.
  • Experience leading complex, cross-functional initiatives involving multiple stakeholders and business partners.
  • Demonstrated strength in budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, financial modeling, reporting, variance analysis, or executive decision support.
  • Experience building governance structures, reporting cadence, accountability models, and measurable business outcomes for complex initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of performance measurement, success metrics, baseline methodology, and variance review.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in finance, accounting, or a related discipline.
  • Experience serving as a finance business partner to senior leadership.
  • Experience supporting executive decision-making in complex organizational environments.
  • Experience leading global or multi-geography initiatives.
  • Experience operating in complex regulatory, operational, or highly matrixed environments.
  • Experience driving organizational change management, milestone alignment, and risk mitigation for large-scale transformation efforts.
  • Experience building or applying structured frameworks for value measurement across financial value, operational performance, risk/compliance, decision quality, and workforce experience.
  • Experience managing teams and/or leading through matrixed organizations.

Why This Role
