Director UX Design

The team builds a driver-facing mobile application for daily navigation, routing, and location-based experiences, designed to perform reliably across regions, devices, and real-world driving conditions. The app is supported by scalable backend services and in-vehicle integrations that power routing optimization, location intelligence, and insights derived from aggregated usage patterns. The focus is on delivering consistently a high-quality mobile experience that meets user’s needs and aligns with business objectives. 

The Director UX Design will shape the UX strategy and design direction for these products, ensuring design excellence, crossfunctional alignment, and usercentered impact across the mobile and automotive ecosystem. 

The role  

As Director UX Design, you will be the senior design leader responsible for elevating the UX vision, design practice, and product experience strategy across HERE’s portfolio of mobile solutions. You will collaborate with executive leadership, product and engineering directors, and crossfunctional teams to drive the next generation of driverfacing experiences. 

You will lead design teams, mature design processes, and ensure a high bar of design craftmanship. This role blends strategic thought leadership, organizational influence, and handson design leadership. 

What you will do 

• Define, communicate, and drive the multi‑year UX vision and experience strategy for HERE’s mobile and mobility‑related solutions.
• Shape cross‑organization design priorities, ensuring alignment with business objectives, product strategy, and engineering roadmaps.
• Champion a user‑centered, data‑informed decision‑making culture across mobile and automotive functions.
• Lead evolution and governance of HERE’s design system ecosystem across mobile and cross‑platform environments.
• Establish and scale design standards, frameworks, and quality benchmarks across teams and product lines.
• Lead, mentor, and grow a high‑performing, multi‑location design team (including senior designers and design leads).
• Partner closely with Product Management, Engineering, Marketing, Customer Experience, and In‑Vehicle teams to shape unified end‑to‑end experiences.
• Influence senior stakeholders and executives through evidence‑based storytelling, strategic insight, and strong communication.
• Represent UX in leadership forums, strategic planning sessions, and cross‑functional initiatives.
• Drive innovation initiatives across design, including prototyping, experimentation, and emerging methodologies.
• Promote thought leadership on UX trends, tools, and industry best practices.

What we’re looking for 

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design or a related field.
• 12–15+ years of experience designing and delivering complex digital products, including extensive experience in consumer mobile applications.
• Proven experience leading design organizations or large‑scale multi‑team design programs.
• Demonstrated ability to define and execute product experience strategy at organizational scale.
• Deep expertise in systems thinking, design systems, and multi‑platform environments.
• Exceptional storytelling, communication, and stakeholder‑alignment skills at executive level.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating strategic influence, product impact, and excellence in craft.
• Experience working in global, cross‑functional, and distributed teams within complex B2B/B2C ecosystems.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
